Fish Tank | Palm Beach Post — In a move that was not surprising, the Marlins designated veteran pitcher John Maine for assignment today. Right-hander Tom Koehler was called up from Class AAA New Orleans. Maine had an awful relief appearance last night, allowing four runs on six hits and five walks in two innings in Miami’s 11-1 loss in Cincinnati. Maine’s ERA in four appearances for the Marlins was 12.27. He came to spring training battling for a rotation spot but wound up fighting for a bullpen spot. Todd Frazier homers for second straight day

CBSSports.com Fantasy — Reds third baseman Todd Frazier homered for the second consecutive day in Thursday's 11-1 win over the Marlins. CBSSports.com Fantasy — Marlins relief pitcher John Maine made his season debut Monday night against the Braves.Maine, who had not pitched in the majors since 2010, entered in the ninth inning. He allowed two hits but struck out one and escaped without allowing a run. The right-hander, who had shoulder surgery in 2010, is glad to be back after a two-and-a-half year absence. "That was one of the motivating things the last two years to try to get back," Maine said. "I didn't want to end it on that. That left a bitter taste. Now it’s not my last outing."
