Jose Bautista posts solid offensive effort

CBSSports.com Fantasy — Blue Jays outfielder Jose Bautista had a solid game on Wednesday during an 11-3 drubbing of the Giants. Bautista went 2 for 5 with two RBI.  The outfielder drove in a run in the second inning with an RBI single to center. He added an RBI double in the third. Bautista scored twice and is batting .262.  Bautista has recorded two hits in four straight games and is 8 for 15 (.533) over that stretch with two homers, seven runs and five RBI. He's up to nine homers and 22 RBI with 23 runs.

Jose Bautista hits pair of homers in Blue Jays’ rout of Red Sox

Boston GlobeRyan Dempster served up the first of the two prodigious home runs Jose Bautista clouted in Toronto’s 12-4 beatdown of the Red Sox Sunday afternoon at Fenway Park. The Blue Jays right fielder couldn’t have asked Dempster for a better placement of his first-pitch fastball in the third inning.

Jose Bautista nets 18th career multi-HR game

CBSSports.com Fantasy — Blue Jays outfielder Jose Bautista had his 18th career multi-homer game in Sunday's 12-4 win over the Red Sox. Bautista's first home run was a solo shot off Ryan Dempster leading off the third inning and he added a two-run shot off Clayton Mortensen in the sixth. Bautista, who has nine homers, scored three times and walked once. Bautista is batting .295 (18 for 61) with five home runs, five doubles and 12 RBI in his last 18 games.

CBSSports.com Fantasy — Blue Jays outfielder Jose Bautista took a turn batting second on Saturday in Boston. Bautista went 0 for 3 Friday to lower his average to .224.  Bautista, who has seven homers and 17 RBI, but also has struck out 25 times over 107 at-bats, entered Saturday's game with 320 career at-bats in the No. 2 spot. That is his fourth-most frequent spot in the batting order, but he hasn't hit that high since 2010.

Bautista singled in the first and seventh innings and added a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the eighth that made the score 7-6. Brett Lawrie staying at third base

CBSSports.com Fantasy — Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said Wednesday he's no longer considering playing Brett Lawrie at second base and Jose Bautista at third base. The Blue Jays were considering such a move when Lawrie was about to come off the disabled list in mid-April. Lawrie has started every game at third base since returning to the lineup April 16. He's batting .212 since his return, but he's been much better lately, batting .350 (7 for 20) with two home runs in his past five games.

Jose Bautista will remain in right field

CBSSports.com Fantasy — Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said Wednesday he's no longer considering playing Brett Lawrie at second base and Jose Bautista at third base. The Blue Jays were considering such a move when Lawrie was about to come off the disabled list in mid-April. Bautista hasn't played third base since doing so over a two-game span from April 13-14. He's played the last nine games at his primary position in right field. Bautista hit .200 in 20 April games, but he finished the month with three home runs in his last six games.

Don't worry about Jose Bautista's average

CBSSports.com Fantasy — We have come to accept the reality that Blue Jays outfielder Jose Bautista is going to struggle with his batting average. Though his strikeout rate is not absurdly high, he has had below average batting averages in three of the last four years, thanks to consistently poor batting averages on balls in play. That being said, his struggles this season are getting ridiculous. Bautista has seven home runs and nine walks in 78 plate appearances, so it's not like he's making weak contact or seeing the ball poorly. Despite that, Bautista has an ugly .188 batting average and an even uglier BABIP of .13...
