2018 Cubs Heroes and Goats: Game 14

2018 Cubs Heroes and Goats: Game 14

The most improbable comeback I’ve ever seen! Full disclosure, I don’t always watch all of the Cubs games. I work and have a number of family obligations that pull me in various directions. But this one, I saw most of. Well, I saw the first inning and then I was out getting food for about half an hour while the score went from 2-1 to 8-1. So at least I missed most of Jose Quintana’s horrible outing. But then I sat and watched the rest of the game. To be fair, I was fuming throughout. Those of you who are regulars of this series know that I’m consistently optimistic about this team....

Lineups: Atlanta Braves @ Chicago Cubs, April 14

It’s Newcomb vs. Quintana in the windy city. The Braves will hope to do battle with the Cubs today if the weather permits. Atlanta will send Sean Newcomb to the mound and Chicago will start Jose Quintana. Braves players have not had the best luck against Quintana. Freddie Freeman predictably has hit Quintana best with a 3-for-6 career mark against him. Braves catcher Kurt Suzuki has definitely seen Quintana the most and is 5-for-21 in his career against the lefty. Here's how we'll line up for today's 2:20 ET first pitch in Chicago! #ChopOnGame Preview: https://t.co/xCAeI8WN5K...

Cubs Stock Market Report: Week 2

Cubs Stock Market Report: Week 2

Who’s hot and who’s not for the Cubs as we enter a homestand. Must-Buy Jose Quintana and his curveball: After not allowing a hit through four innings against the Marlins last week, Quintana unraveled in the fifth, giving up six runs over six innings of work. Sunday was a different story for Quintana, as he went six innings, gave up three hits, no runs, and had six strikeouts, five of which were via the curveball. Yu Darvish: Darvish was another bounceback candidate after his lackluster first performance in a Cubs uniform, and he did not disappoint. Darvish showed us why he was the top...

Chicago Cubs News: Cubs take series; Harper a favorite?

The Chicago Cubs got a great start from Jose Quintana as they beat the Milwaukee Brewers in the series three out of four. For the Chicago Cubs‘ Jose Quintana, it was one inning that sabotaged his excellent day against Miami. This time out, there was no bad inning. Quintana tossed six innings of shutout baseball, while […] Chicago Cubs News: Cubs take series; Harper a favorite? - Cubbies Crib - Cubbies Crib - A Chicago Cubs Fan Site - News, Blogs, Opinion and More

2018 Cubs Heroes and Goats: Game 4

Cubs lose 6-0 split four game set with Marlins Hopefully, I’m not the only one who spent Easter with family and friends rather than watching the Cubs game. I followed along and was starting to get a little excited about Jose Quintana having not allowed a hit through four. At the same time, I always worry about a pitcher throwing a no hitter in a 0-0 game. It creates an awkward situation, especially in April when guys aren’t in mid season form yet. Alas, the fifth inning happened and doomed Q’s day and also that of the Cubs. I’ve long been an advocate of a tip of the hat and not...

Chicago Cubs: Situational hitting looms large in finale loss to Miami

The Chicago Cubs struggled to deliver clutch hits in a Sunday’s series finale loss to the Miami Marlins – while one big inning doomed Jose Quintana. As the season dawned, the Chicago Cubs seemed to have a good shot at starting 4-0. A date with the Miami Marlins to open the regular season could bode […] Chicago Cubs: Situational hitting looms large in finale loss to Miami - Cubbies Crib - Cubbies Crib - A Chicago Cubs Fan Site - News, Blogs, Opinion and More

Chicago Cubs News: Chatwood better than Cobb; Quintana a dark horse

Pitching. Pitching. Pitching. That was our theme yesterday as we talked about the Chicago Cubs and what they’ve added. Will Tyler Chatwood be better than Alex Cobb? And why Jose Quintana is a darkhorse candidate for the Cy Young. It seems so long ago, but there was a time when the Chicago Cubs were almost […] Chicago Cubs News: Chatwood better than Cobb; Quintana a dark horse - Cubbies Crib - Cubbies Crib - A Chicago Cubs Fan Site - News, Blogs, Opinion and More
