Amed Rosario Could Force New York Mets’ Hand If He Continues Hot Hitting in Minors

New York Mets' shortstop prospect Amed Rosario could force his way to the big leagues if he keeps up his hot start. Rosario, who is hitting .403 with Triple-A Las Vegas and is already regarded as a superb defender, could become an option if Jose Reyes can't right himself soon.

Final Score: Nationals 3, Mets 1—Mets offense continues to struggle

Final Score: Nationals 3, Mets 1—Mets offense continues to struggle

Gio Gonzalez and the Nationals bullpen held the Mets to two hits on this rainy Saturday. Aside from a small rally in the bottom of the sixth inning, the Mets offense failed to show up again today in a divisional game against the rival Nationals in a 3-1 loss. Gio Gonzalez was brilliant, limiting the Mets to one run with two hits and three walks allowed over 6.1 innings of work. After walking two batters in the first, Gonzalez retired 13 straight before Jose Reyes walked to lead off the sixth inning. Juan Lagares then singled up the middle to end Gonzalez’s no-hit bid. With one out,...

Jacob deGrom will start today, Jose Reyes will be on the bench

deGrom was given an extra day before the start because of a stiff neck. If you’re looking for some good Mets news, the team’s lineup for this afternoon’s game against the Washington Nationals has some: Jacob deGrom is, indeed, making his start. He had originally been slated to start the series opener against Washington last night but was pushed back a day because of a stiff neck. And given the way things went the last time Mets fans heard about a stiff neck, it was fair for everyone to have some serious concern about him. Through his first three starts of the season, deGrom has been...

Mets vs. Phillies Recap: Mets blow another late-inning lead

Jose Reyes’s error in the eighth inning allowed the Phillies to tie the game, and win in the tenth A solid outing by Zack Wheeler was ruined in the late innings last night by a series of Mets miscues. A dropped pop-up by Jose Reyes in the eighth inning followed by an Andres Blanco RBI two-out ground-rule double off of Jerry Blevins tied the game at two runs apiece. That score held until the tenth inning when Rafael Montero entered the game. Montero was charged with four runs, three earned, and wound up with the loss. He only recorded one out. What separates a good pitcher...

Final Score: Phillies 6, Mets 2—Reyes’s error proves costly

The Mets dropped their fourth straight game, again in agonizing fashion Zack Wheeler had a promising third start, but the Mets lost another extra innings heartbreaker to the Phillies tonight. The deciding factor was an error by Jose Reyes in the top of the eighth inning. The score was sitting at 2-1 in favor of the Mets, with Wheeler in line for the win. Coming into foul territory on a pop-up, Reyes dropped a ball right in his mitt that bounced into play. The next batter, Andres Blanco, hit an RBI ground-rule double to tie the game. Rafael Montero did not help the Mets’ cause in the...
