The switch-hitting shortstop is headed to Florida on Wednesday to begin a rehab stint after being out since April 12 with a severely sprained ankle.

Reyes plans on remaining with the club to complete his rehab before what is expected to be a week or more of minor league games.

Laffey made 16 starts for the Blue Jays last season. He went 4-6 with a 4.56 ERA in 22 games.

The Jays are struggling without the injured Jose Reyes and Jose Bautista.

Shortstop will still be out of action for three months.
