J.P. Arencibia not dealing with any pain after HBP

CBSSports.com Fantasy — Blue Jays catcher J.P. Arencibia told Sportsnet.ca his hand is fine after being hit by a pitch Thursday night against the Rays. Arencibia, who went 4 for 12 with a home run and two RBI in a four-game series against Tampa Bay, is in the starting lineup Friday against the Red Sox at Fenway Park.He is hitting .219 (7 for 32) with two home runs and six RBI against Friday's starter Jon Lester. Arencibia has a .252/.269/.520 line with nine homers and 18 RBI in 127 at-bats.

J.P. Arencibia has go-ahead two-run homer

CBSSports.com Fantasy — Despite not starting Monday in Tampa Bay, catcher J.P. Arencibia made a major impact. After popping out as a pinch-hitter in the sixth inning, Arencibia hit a go-ahead two-run homer off closer Fernando Rodney with two outs in the ninth.  Arencibia's ninth homer of the season gave the Blue Jays an 8-7 win. He finished 2 for 3 with two runs scored and two RBI. Arencibia is batting .254 with nine homers and 18 RBI.

Arencibia a game off Monday against the Rays in Tampa Bay. Arencibia had started in five of the last six games for Toronto.  Arencibia picked up two hits in his last game Sunday, but has gone 6 for 33 (.182) over his last 10 games with just one RBI. He's batting .243 overall with eight homers and 16 runs driven in.

Chris Davis hits eighth home run

CBSSports.com Fantasy — Orioles outfielder Chris Davis hit his eighth home run in Thursday's victory against Oakland. Davis moved into a tie for the American League home run lead with Toronto catcher J.P. Arencibia. Davis's .776 slugging percentage leads the American League but trails Atlanta's Justin Upton for the major league lead at .797. Davis also singled, walked twice and drove in two runs in the game.

Arencibia had a team-high three hits, which included his AL-leading eighth home run. Arencibia also had his sixth double in Wednesday's game, while finishing with two runs and two RBI. Arencibia has five home runs in his last 10 games. He's batting .289 (11 for 38) with two doubles and seven RBI in his last 10 games.

Brett Gardner steals first base

CBSSports.com Fantasy — Yankees outfielder Brett Gardner picked up his first stolen base of the season Sunday in Toronto. Gardner stole second base off Josh Johnson and J.P. Arencibia.  The leadoff hitter went 2 for 4 with a sacrifice fly RBI in the performance. He did not score and is batting .270.  Gardner has hit in nine of his last 10 games with seven runs scored and eight RBI over that span. He's been a solid catalyst for the New York offense.  Gardner has gone 1 for 3 in steal attempts this year.

J.P. Arencibia powers up for seventh HR

CBSSports.com Fantasy — Blue Jays catcher J.P. Arencibia smacked his seventh home run of the season on Sunday in a win over the New York Yankees. Arencibia took David Phelps deep for a two-run blast in the seventh inning.  Arencibia helped put the game away as his homer gave the game its final score of 8-4. Arencibia went 2 for 4 in the game and added his fifth double. He scored twice and is batting .250 on the year.  The 27-year-old backstop has struck out 28 times over his first 18 games, but also has seven homers, five doubles and 13 RBI. As long as he's producing power numbers, few will worry about the strikeouts...

CBSSports.com Fantasy — In sabermetric circles, the term "three true outcomes" has been used to refer to any player who ends a disproportionately high number of plate apperances with either a home run, strikeout or walk. Blue Jays catcher J.P. Arencibia has decided three is just too many possibilities. He has done little besides strike out or go deep this season. After slugging his fifth home run in 13 games Tuesday, a whopping 46.2 percent of Arencibia's at-bats have ended with him going down on strikes or blasting the ball over the fence. Entering the season, that mark was 35.7 percent in his previous two seasons. ...

CBSSports.com Fantasy — Blue Jays catcher J.P. Arencibia only mustered one hit in four at-bats on Monday during a 4-3 win over the White Sox. That said, that hit left the yard.  Arencibia homered for the fourth time this season in the first inning off starter Gavin Floyd. It was a solo shot. Arencibia finished 1 for 4 and has nine RBI. He's batting .250.  Arencibia is just 2 for 16 in his last four games with two RBI and six strikeouts. He has already struck out 19 times in his first 48 at-bats.
