Arencibia, Kouzmanoff elect free agency

Texas Rangers catcher J.P. Arencibia and third baseman Kevin Kouzmanoff have elected to take free agency instead of going to the minor leagues. Arencibia was signed to become the backup catcher, but injuries and ineffective play limited him to just 63 games. He hit five home runs and 16 RBIs in July but batted just .177 for the season. Kouzmanoff played in 13 games before back surgery ended his season. The Rangers also announced which players are participating in winter ball.
