Why the Phillies WILL re-sign J.T. Realmuto

Photo by Hunter Martin/ There are plenty of reasons to suspect he will be back. There is plenty of pessimism surrounding the Phillies and it is, of course, understandable. The franchise opened their contention window prior to the 2018 season and, over the last three years, failed to finish any of those campaigns with a winning record, let alone a playoff berth. One could argue the Atlanta Braves, Miami Marlins, Washington Nationals and New York Mets have all passed them (or soon will) in the NL East, the front office was dragged kicking and screaming into addressing...

Phillies: Joe Girardi makes push to re-sign J.T. Realmuto

Phillies manager Joe Girardi was not shy to praise J.T. Realmuto on Friday. If it were up to Philadelphia Phillies manager Joe Girardi, perennial All-Star catcher J.T. Realmuto would have already been re-signed by now to return for a third season in red pinstripes. But, as the saying goes, “it takes two to tango” — […] Phillies: Joe Girardi makes push to re-sign J.T. Phillies: Phil Gosselin wishes to return with J.T. Realmuto

Phil Gosselin wants to be 2021 Phillies teammates with J.T. Realmuto Both utility player Phil Gosselin and catcher J.T. Realmuto currently have two looming things in common — the veterans are free agents, after playing each of the past two seasons donning a Philadelphia Phillies uniform. Gosselin, who turned 32 last month, recently joined MLB Network […] Phillies: Phil Gosselin wishes to return with J.T. The Offseason: 11/19/2020

Photo by Mitchell Leff/ Where signing J.T. Realmuto just got harder Well that one shouldn’t have been unexpected. Robinson Cano was suspended for the 2021 season yesterday when he was found to have tested positive for PEDs for a second time. While many will focus on the implications for this coming offseason, one of the bigger stories will be how it affects Chase Utley and his chase for Hall of Fame immortality. This test and suspension will remove Cano from ever reaching the Hall since his own stupidity at using the enhancers will never allow his entry with the...

Robinson Cano suspension does not bode well for Phillies

The Phillies’ chances to re-sign J.T. Realmuto just got worse One Philadelphia Phillies division rival — the New York Mets — just got even more offseason spending flexibility. Under new owner Steve Cohen, the Mets are expected to significantly revamp their roster this offseason; now, they have an extra $24 million to spend. Early Wednesday evening, […] Robinson Cano suspension does not bode well for Phillies - That Balls Outta Here - That Balls Outta Here - A Philadelphia Phillies Fan Site - News, Blogs, Opinion and More

Phillies get Francisco Lindor, catcher in hypothetical deal

This blockbuster would send Francisco Lindor and Roberto Perez to the Phillies. The Philadelphia Phillies seem poised to lose both catcher J.T. Realmuto and shortstop Didi Gregorius in free agency. A recently hypothesized blockbuster by MLB.com scribe Thomas Harrigan would allow the Phillies to fill both position holes with comparable combined talent. Replacing J.T. Realmuto with Gary Sanchez? Hmm...

Photo by Mitchell Leff/ SOMEONE is going to have to be the everyday guy if Realmuto leaves Last week, it was reported that the Yankees have at least considered the idea of trading Gary Sanchez this offseason and moving in a new direction behind the plate. It also just so happens that the Phillies have an opening behind their own plate now that J.T. Realmuto has entered free agency and looks increasingly unlikely to come back to Philadelphia. Putting all those dots together and connecting them, some have started to think about potential trade packages that would land Sanchez in the City...

Philadelphia Phillies: Ranking possible J.T. Realmuto landing spots

Will one of these three teams be the lucky organization to land prized Philadelphia Phillies free agent J.T. Realmuto this winter? Ask anyone who the top available MLB free agent this offseason is and many would point to National League Cy Young winner Trevor Bauer. That’s a great choice, but the true top talent available […] Philadelphia Phillies: Ranking possible J.T. Phillies among favorites to sign Jackie Bradley Jr.

The Phillies are considered among the favorites to sign Jackie Bradley Jr. So far, the Philadelphia Phillies have largely been absent from player rumors this offseason, outside of their own — J.T. Realmuto, Didi Gregorius, and others — entering free agency. Friday afternoon, MLB Network’s Keith Costas discussed the possible destination of one key free-agent center […] Phillies among favorites to sign Jackie Bradley Jr. - That Balls Outta Here - That Balls Outta Here - A Philadelphia Phillies Fan Site - News, Blogs, Opinion and More

Phillies should sign Ha-Seong Kim to replace Didi Gregorius

The Phillies should consider signing Ha-Seong Kim to replace Didi Gregorius. As each day passes in the Philadelphia Phillies offseason, the odds of the team re-signing both catcher J.T. Realmuto and shortstop Didi Gregorius for the 2021 season seem slimmer and slimmer. The latter player, in particular, was among the most productive Phillies shortstops since […] Phillies should sign Ha-Seong Kim to replace Didi Gregorius - That Balls Outta Here - That Balls Outta Here - A Philadelphia Phillies Fan Site - News, Blogs, Opinion and More

J.T. Realmuto declines the Phillies’ qualifying offer, will test free agency

Photo by Mark Brown/ As expected, Realmuto declines the QO. In a move that was not at all surprising, catcher J.T. Realmuto has reportedly refused the Phillies’ qualifying offer and will test free agency. Realmuto is expected to easily better this year’s QO of $18.9 million for one year, and could see a multi-year deal that pays him more per year than any catcher in MLB history. San Francisco’s Buster Posey is the current record holder at $21.4 million in average annual value. He signed an eight-year, $168 million contract extension with the Giants in 2013. It’s unlikely Realmuto...
