Juan Pierre out of Marlins' lineup Monday

CBSSports.com Fantasy — Marlins outfielder Juan Pierre is not in the lineup Monday. Pierre has been the lead-off hitter most of the season but will get a day off. He'll be replaced by Chris Coghlan, who will hit sixth. Pierre should return to face Phillies starter Tyler Cloyd Tuesday.

Juan Pierre hits rare homer

CBSSports.com Fantasy — Marlins outfielder Juan Pierre's first-inning home run Thursday was such a rare sight, Reds starting pitcher Mat Latos could hardly believe his eyes. "Juan Pierre hit a home run off me -- just my luck," Latos said. "I looked at him when he was running the bases and said, 'What the heck happened?'" Pierre's home run was his first since June 23 of the 2012 season, and just his sixth extra-base hit of this season. He finished the game going 1 for 5, with one strikeout, in a 5-3 loss. Pierre has struck out in four straight games, as his batting average is down to .239.

CBSSports.com Fantasy — Marlins outfielder Juan Pierre has been one of the best base stealers in the league for a long time, and he hit another milestone Thursday against the Phillies. Pierre drew a walk to open the game and then stole third base after being advanced by a single. The steal gave him 600 for his career, making him the 18th player in major-league history to hit that mark. He finished the game 0 for 3 with one run scored in a 7-2 loss. Pierre is batting just .216, but he does have nine stolen bases and just one caught stealing in 102 at-bats.

Disastrous ninth ruins Hefner's outing as Mets fall to Marlins

Or more to the point, the Mets finished off themselves as Juan Pierre scored on Mets reliever Brandon Lyon’s wild pitch to give the Marlins a 2-1 win at Marlins Park.

Pierre was lucky to be around after getting hit on the right elbow by a Bobby Parnell pitch in the bottom of the 10th inning.
