Braves News: Injured relievers nearing return, Touki Toussaint debut and more

Sam Freeman is nearing a return and Arodys Vizcaino is scheduled to resume throwing next week. Atlanta Braves News Biddle blows it in the eighth as Braves fall to Brewers, 4-2 A rare bullpen hiccup by Jesse Biddle proved costly to the Atlanta Braves in a 4-2 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers Saturday night. Biddle’s rough night began with a fielding error when he tried to barehand a flip from Freddie Freeman at first. He lasted just a 1/3 of an inning allowing three hits and three runs (2 earned). Julio Teheran allowed another first inning run but settled in from there allowing just two hits...

Biddle blows it the eighth as Braves fall to Brewers, 4-2

A good ol’ fashioned bullpen blowup after the Braves held a narrow lead. Oh, hey, a loss featuring a bullpen blowup that transformed a lead into a deficit. We haven’t had one of those in a while. Jesse Biddle allowed a two-run, go-ahead double to Mike Moustakas to sink the Braves in the eighth, and Josh Hader slammed the door on the Atlanta bats by retiring all six batters he faced to even the series. Before Biddle’s blowup, Julio Teheran held the Brewers relatively in check for six innings, allowing just one run on two walks and two hits, while striking out six. The run scored in the...

Julio Teheran’s endured his share of criticism throughout what has, to this point, been a mediocre season amid his team’s first-place worthy success.

Teheran, Braves look to keep it going against Brewers

Teheran faces Brewers for first time in 2018. The Atlanta Braves got their homestand off on a good note Friday night with a 10-1 win over the Milwaukee Brewers. They will look for more of the same when the two teams meet again Saturday night. Julio Teheran will be on the mound on Saturday and is in need of a good performance. Teheran struggled early in his last start but recovered long enough to last 5 2/3 innings while allowing five hits and three runs against the Mets. He has allowed 10 earned runs over his last 15 innings and has walked 10 during that stretch. Teheran hasn’t faced...

Braves escape from New York with 5-4, extra-inning win

The Braves hit three homers in a seesaw affair that eventually ended in their favor. Nick Markakis drilled a go-ahead homer in the top of the 10th and Jesse Biddle navigated around a leadoff double in the bottom of the inning to deliver a tortured victory in a see-saw affair during their matinee finale in New York against the Mets. The first third or so of the game was not an auspicious start for the Braves, and could best be described as “demoralizing.” Julio Teheran, once again, featured subpar command and results. In the first, a leadoff walk to Amed Rosario led to a stolen base....

Teheran, offense seek bounceback in Mets finale

Teheran, offense seek bounceback in Mets finale

Teheran is coming off two poor starts, the offense was shut out last night. Can they do better this afternoon? It’s been a good season for the Atlanta Braves. It has not been a good season for Julio Teheran. Among the 77 pitchers with enough innings to qualify for the ERA title, Teheran is third-worst in MLB, and dead last in the National League, in fWAR. For every good stretch (e.g., three consecutive starts in April where he gave up a combined three runs, a two-start stretch against the Blue Jays and Diamondbacks where he allowed two combined runs and pitched into the seventh in each),...
