Tigers will not retain Brad Ausmus

Tigers will not retain Brad Ausmus

Detroit’s vacancy is the first managerial opening of the season in the majors. The Tigers announced Friday that they will not retain manager Brad Ausmus past this season. Anthony Fenech of the Detroit Free Press first reported the decision. Ausmus and his staff will finish out the remainder of the regular season before general manager Al Avila begins a complete search for the team’s new skipper. The dismissal of Ausmus was widely expected for a Tigers club that is currently 62-91 and in the middle of a rebuild that has led to the trades of J.D. Martinez, Justin Wilson, Alex Avila,...

Watch Jeimer Candelario’s first Tigers home run

The Candy-man can. There have been a lot of expectations surrounding Jeimer Candelario since the Tigers acquired him from the Chicago Cubs in the trade for Justin Wilson and Alex Avila. He has now taken over from Nick Castellanos at third base and will likely stay there full time next season. And in Thursday’s game against the Chicago White Sox he crushed his first home run in a Tigers’ uniform. Candy can crush. pic.twitter.com/Op8I2ddnco— Detroit Tigers (@tigers) September 14, 2017 Prior to Thursday he was already hitting .341/.413/.463 through 12 games in the majors. Pretty...

Chicago Cubs: Will the real Justin Wilson please stand up?

The Chicago Cubs were as aggressive as possible at the trade deadline, landing solid players. However, one player has not panned out. Yet. To say that the Chicago Cubs were active in the trade market would be an understatement. Discussions were reported for several players, though most weren’t landed. They opened the trading by acquiring […] Chicago Cubs: Will the real Justin Wilson please stand up? - Cubbies Crib - Cubbies Crib - A Chicago Cubs Fan Site - News, Blogs, Opinion and More

Scouting Grayson Long, one of Detroit’s newest prospects

Scouting Grayson Long, one of Detroit’s newest prospects

Long is a former 3rd rounder who could be a potential back-end starter. July may have come and gone, but that doesn't spell the end of trades for the Detroit Tigers. A forgettable season has led to Tigers general manager Al Avila dismantling the MLB club. The non-waiver deadline saw J.D. Martinez, Justin Wilson, and Alex Avila leave Detroit, followed by a month-long hiatus. Some fans expected to see the offseason come before the next domino fell. On Thursday, Justin Upton was dealt to the Los Angeles Angels in exchange for right-handed pitcher Grayson Long and a player to be named...

Justin Verlander trade rumors: JV dealt to Houston

The best pitcher in franchise history is now a Houston Astro Sept. 1 — The Tigers traded Justin Verlander to the Astros late Thursday night. July 31 -- On a team where it’s said that everyone is fair game for a trade, some players are more easily moved than others. J.D. Martinez is gone. Alex Avila and Justin Wilson seem the next most likely candidates to be moved. But no single player has had more frustrating trade rumors than Detroit Tigers ace Justin Verlander.
