2021 Royals Season in Review - Kris Bubic

2021 Royals Season in Review - Kris Bubic

Photo by Ed Zurga/ The left-handed rookie had a very up-and-down sophomore campaign. Many had high hopes for Kris Bubic coming into this season. He had debuted for the big league club in 2020 and made ten starts, averaging five innings an outing and putting up a workable if not particularly good 4.32 ERA. He was worth approximately 0.5 fWAR and had an ERA- of 95 with a FIP- of 109 (both stats are set to a league average of 100 and lower is better.) It was a weird year, he was making the leap from A-ball all the way to the MLB level, and he had some success. His 2021 did...

2021 Penultimate Gamethread: Twins at Royals

Photo by Jamie Squire/ It’s been a blast For the past several years I have written the Saturday gamethreads. I fully intend to continue into next year, but for now, this is where we will say, “See you later!” The Royals only have one more game to play after this one, and it will not be on a Saturday so if you want to see any more of my writing about the Royals you’ll be forced to check out the Hok Talk articles. Kris Bubic gets his final start of the year for the Royals which is fitting because he’s probably my favorite of the young Royals pitchers. He’s so...

KC Royals: Will Kris Bubic be another Jason Vargas?

Eleven days ago, Kris Bubic pitched well for the KC Royals when he allowed just one run on two hits in 6.1 innings against Seattle. Eight days later, Bubic built off that performance with a stellar gem against Detroit, blanking the Tigers on two hits and striking out six in seven innings. Do the Royals need to make a big splash this off-season?

Do the Royals need to make a big splash this off-season?

Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports Is it time to pull the trigger on a big move? The Royals wrap up the season this week, and while it will be their fifth consecutive losing season, their winning percentage has improved in each of the last four seasons. The team has begun to see the draft class of 2018 bear fruit in the pitching staff, with Brady Singer, Kris Bubic, Daniel Lynch, and Jackson Kowar all in the big leagues with mixed early results. Carlos Hernández has emerged as another intriguing young arm, and more pitchers could join him next year. The minor league system...

Royals Rumblings - News for September 27, 2021

Photo by Mark Cunningham/MLB Photos via It’s the last week of Royals baseball this year. Royals Rumblings - News for September 27, 2021 Kris Bubic had his best career start on Sunday, and he attributed it to his fastball, according to Lynn Worthy. “It all starts with the fastball,” Bubic said. “It’s a lot harder to pitch a game where you don’t have your fastball. You can try to nibble with your off-speed, but as long as my fastball is there and I have at least one of my off-speed going that day, then for the most part I should be fine. “(The key today...

Whit Merrifield got the game started with a double off Tigers starter Wily Peralta, one of his three hits on the day.
