ARLINGTON -- Right-hander Kyle Dowdy, subject to Rule 5 Draft protocols, was placed on the 10-day injured list with an impingement in his right elbow. The move was backdated to June 1. It is unclear how much time he is expected to miss, but bet the Rangers will operate with an abundance of caution. It gives them an opportunity to more easily manipulate the roster to give them more pitching depth.Since he is a Rule 5 pick, Dowdy must stay on the major league roster all year in order for the Rangers to keep him. A right elbow impingement has sidelined the Rangers’ Rule 5 reliever Texas Rangers transactions: Kyle Dowdy has hit the injured list with a right elbow impingement. The Rangers are recalling LHP Brett Martin from Triple-A Nashville to fill Dowdy’s spot in the bullpen. Dowdy came to Texas as a waiver claim late in spring training.
