Texas Rangers Blog | ESPN Dallas — ARLINGTON, Texas -- Lance Berkman is back in the Rangers' lineup Tuesday night after two days off. Berkman is playing first base, where he could start until Mitch Moreland returns Friday in St. Louis. Berkman, who has started three games at first base and 54 as the designated hitter, will be a "day-to-day" option until Moreland returns. First baseman Chris McGuiness was optioned back to Triple-A Round Rock on Tuesday. But we haven't seen the last of 20-year-old Jurickson Profar in the leadoff spot. Manager Ron Washington said on his weekly segment with Fitzsimmons & Durrett on ESPN Dallas 103.3 FM that Profar will hit leadoff again when Berkman is out, meaning one of his best hitters, Kinsler, will bat in the most the most important spot in the lineup, the three-hole.

Buzz: Berkman gets extra day off

Texas Rangers Blog | ESPN Dallas — ARLINGTON, Texas -- Rangers manager Ron Washington gave Lance Berkman a second straight day off Monday night, giving his designated hitter a chance to get "good and fresh." Berkman was replaced at DH by 20-year old Jurickson Profar. Berkman will be back in the lineup on Tuesday as the DH, Washington said. "I don't mind," Berkman said when asked about getting back-to-back days off. "It gives me a day to regroup." Berkman is having a mechanical issue when he bats left-handed, he said, and the extra day gives him a chance to work out the kinks.
