Mark Ellis not coming off DL yet

CBSSports.com Fantasy — Dodgers infielder Mark Ellis is not expected to be activated Sunday from the disabled list,  manager Don Mattingly told the Los Angeles Times. He will join the team in Milwaukee, but the team is still trying to figure out whether he will need additional time to heal. Ellis is expected to play six innings in Double-A Saturday as part of his minor-league rehab assignment. He has been out since late April with a right quad strain.

The Dodgers have yet to announce the cause for his departure. Ellis could rejoin the club Sunday or Monday. Mark Ellis almost ready for rehab assignment

CBSSports.com Fantasy — Dodgers infielder Mark Ellis is nearing a rehab assignment, MLB.com reports. Ellis could start his rehab assignment with Double-A Chattanooga next week.  The infielder continues to progress from his strained right quad injury, though he has not yet run at full speed. He will travel with the club to Atlanta for a three-game series beginning Friday.

Gordon has spent the past two games in the two-spot, which is Ellis' usual position with Carl Crawford at leadoff. Mattingly said the move would be spearheaded by his preference to alternate between left-handed and right-handed batters at the top of the lineup. Gordon recorded his fourth steal in eight games Sunday against the Marlins.
