Red Sox Will Not Make Offers To Their Eight Free Agents

Red Sox Will Not Make Offers To Their Eight Free Agents

Red Sox President of Baseball Operations Dave Dombrowski announced today that the team will not make qualifying offers to any of its eight eligible free agents (Mitch Moreland, Blaine Boyer, Fernando Abad, Chris Young, Doug Fister, Rajai Davis, Eduardo Nunez). A ninth free agent (Addison Reed) was not eligible for a qualifying offer due to being traded during the 2017 season. Thus, the player most observers thought would be offered a deal—Eduardo Nunez—will not likely be back.

Look For Hosmer And Martinez To Boost Red Sox Offense

As the time for wooing free agents draws nigh, it's looking more and more likely that Red Sox President of baseball Operations will sign two free agents and make some sort of trade before opening Day next march 29th. Multiple reports suggest that Eric Hosmer is Double D's top target—upgrading the first base position both offensively and defensively (although Mitch Moreland did a helluva a job on both fronts on a relatively cheap one-year deal). Signing Hosmer (who will likely be a qualifying free agent) will mean that Boston will give up its second-highest pick in the next MLB Draft and...

2018 Off-Season Potential Trade Partner: the Boston Red Sox

2018 Off-Season Potential Trade Partner: the Boston Red Sox

Their bullpen needs arms. Our bullpen has them. After an quick exit from the postseason at the hands of the Astros, the Red Sox have already started to re-tool for next year. The Red Sox also need to shore up their pitching. First, they need to...
