Buzz: Berkman makes return at first base

Texas Rangers Blog | ESPN Dallas — ARLINGTON, Texas -- Lance Berkman is back in the Rangers' lineup Tuesday night after two days off. Berkman is playing first base, where he could start until Mitch Moreland returns Friday in St. Louis. Berkman, who has started three games at first base and 54 as the designated hitter, will be a "day-to-day" option until Moreland returns. First baseman Chris McGuiness was optioned back to Triple-A Round Rock on Tuesday. Texas Rangers Blog | ESPN Dallas — ARLINGTON, Texas -- Rangers first baseman Mitch Moreland (right hamstring strain) will start a rehab assignment Monday at Double-A Frisco after getting the go-ahead from team physician Dr. Keith Meister. Moreland, who ran the bases Sunday and hit in the cages, is still on schedule to come off the 15-day disabled list on Friday in St. Louis. Moreland will go on a three-game minor league rehab assignment.

Texas Rangers Blog | ESPN Dallas — ARLINGTON, Texas -- Ian Kinsler and Mitch Moreland took batting practice before Wednesday's game as they continue working to return from the 15-day disabled list. They can't get back soon enough. The Rangers need the cavalry to arrive in a hurry after the offense scuffled through nine more innings Wednesday night in a 5-2 loss to the Cleveland Indians at Rangers Ballpark. By the way, that's an Indians club that had lost eight straight games -- and even worse 12 in a row on the road -- before taking consecutive 5-2 victories from the Rangers on Tuesday and Wednesday.
