Nick Hundley Injury Update

Latest news and rumors on Nick Hundley Injury Update updated 21 hours ago

Nick Hundley and Yasmani Grandal make peace, sort of.

Gaslamp Ball — Listened to this interview with Bud Black yesterday where he's asked about Nick Hundley calling out Yasmani Grandal as an unproven player. Bud Black interview with Darren Smith (MP3) "I spoke to Nick about that. I believe that Nick and Yasi have reached out to each other on that. With Nick, I don't think that he said anything that he didn't believe as far as the steroid usage and how our team felt about that. I think what stood out in that was when Nick hit the performance issue. I think that's probably what got Yasi. You know Yasi obviously knows that he messed up by taking some ...

Nick Hundley has harsh words for Yasmani Grandal

CBSSports.com Fantasy — Padres catcher Nick Hundley did not have positive things to say about teammate Yasmani Grandal.  Grandal is set to return from his suspension in three weeks, and could usurp the starting role from Hundley. When asked about Grandal Wednesday, Hundley responded by calling out the young catcher. "You want to talk about a guy who is unproven and had a good couple months on steroids, go ahead." Hundley added that he hasn't thought about losing playing time once Grandal comes back. Hundley is hitting .270/.302/.450 in 100 at-bats this year. Manager Bud Black said both catchers will get playing time ...

Nick Hundley is not impressed with Yasmani Grandal... at ALL

Gaslamp Ball — In my mind, I imagine Nick Hundley making a male masturbation motion (MMM) with his hand whenever Yasmani Grandal is mentioned. @utkevinacee— Gaslamp Ball (@gaslampball) May 9, 2013 2013 being an odd numbered year, Nick Hundley is feeling a bit saucy: "You want to talk about a guy who is unproven and had a good couple months on steroids, go ahead," Hundley said on Wednesday. But it’s what Hundley said next that makes this more about him than Grandal. "I’ve got a job to do," Hundley continued. Nice try, Kevin Acee, but unless we have a couple different definitions of "more" that we...

John Baker battery mate for Cashner?

CBSSports.com Fantasy — Padres catcher John Baker was behind the plate for starter Andrew Cashner Wednesday night against the Cubs. It was the third time he has caught the right-hander.Manager Bud Black told MLB.com Baker and Cashner have worked well together but his start had more to do with giving Nick Hundley a break."You've got to keep your bench current, you've got to get your guys at-bats," Black said. "With John, he and Cash have put together two good games. He pitched well in San Francisco with Baker catching and he threw well in his last start against the Giants, too, with Baker catching. But a lot of it has...

Padres 13, Cubs 7: Carlos Quentin Grand Marshal Of Hit Parade

Gaslamp Ball — The Padres scored a billion runs off the Cubs tonight. It's what happens when everybody in the starting lineup gets a hit, including the pitcher. Yonder Alonso, Carlos Quentin, and Nick Hundley led the way with a trio of home runs. They were also three of five Padres with a multi-hit night. It wasn't all rainbows and sunshine, though: Robbie Erlin finally made his major league debut in the 9th only to get roughed up by ex-Padres Cody Ransom and Anthony Rizzo. Ransom hit a solo home run to left field, continuing his sudden display of competency, and Rizzo hit an RBI double to right. Of ...

Nick Hundley knocks in two

CBSSports.com Fantasy — Padres catcher Nick Hundley had two RBI and went 2 for 3 Tuesday against the Dodgers. Hundley doubled, walked and scored a run as well. Nick Hundley a viable waiver claim

CBSSports.com Fantasy — I understand Fantasy owners are hesitant to make a long-term investment in Padres catcher Nick Hundley since Yasmani Grandal will return from his 50-game suspension at the end of May, but there's no harm in making a short-term investment, especially if you have the need at catcher or an extra bench spot. I'm convinced Hundley's down season in 2012 was because of his knee injury. He's healthy again in 2013 and his confidence seems restored. He had a stellar spring (.358/3 HRs/7 2Bs/10 RBI) and has carried that into the regular season. Hundley is the 11th-highest scoring Fantasy catcher heading ...

Brandon League escapes with third save

CBSSports.com Fantasy — Dodgers closer Brandon League entered Wednesday's contest against the Padres in the ninth inning with a three-run lead. The right-hander retired the leadoff batter before giving up a double to Nick Hundley. He was able to record the second out but San Diego put together back-to-back hits, with one scoring a run. League appeared to escape the frame when Chris Denorfia swung and missed at a third strike, but the ball got past the catcher, allowing another run to score. Finally, League was able to get Yonder Alonso to pop out to end the game and secure a 4-3 win. The 30-year-old has converted all...
