The Mets then relied heavily on Tim Byrdak when Feliciano departed for the Yankees. Both happened to end up requiring shoulder surgery. Now, after persevering for 14 professional seasons in the minors and independent ball, fellow left-hander Scott Rice is getting the extreme usage with the Mets in 2013. CBSSports.com Fantasy — Mets reliever Pedro Feliciano continues to pitch in Class A St. Lucie, but he is hoping to move up to another level soon. Feliciano, who has not pitched at the major-league level since 2010, has yet to allow a run in four appearances in the minors. The team hopes to give Feliciano a month to build up his arm strength before it gives him a shot to join the majors. Feliciano joined the team's Class A affiliate April 15, so there are still a few weeks before a decision needs to be made.

MetsBlogPedro Feliciano recently dealt with a serious case of food poisoning and was hospitalized, according to Adam Rubin of ESPN New York. Feliciano was placed on the St. Lucie Mets’ inactive list last week, although the Mets are hopeful Feliciano will return over the next week.

Feliciano had a serious case of food poisoning, multiple people aware of the issue told ESPNNewYork.com. Because doctors detected a heart issue with Feliciano during spring training, they were particularly concerned and hospitalized the lefty reliever.
