Yankees Blog | ESPN New York — New York Yankees pitcher Phil Hughes is still very inconsistent. NOT EVEN ONE, AND HE WAS DONE: Hughes was awful. He could only pick up two outs before manager Joe Girardi gave him the hook in the first inning. It was his shortest start of his career. In May 2009, Hughes gave up eight runs in 1 2/3 innings at Camden Yards. He finished that season as an important part of the World Series-winning bullpen.
