Chris Young Isn’t Randy Wolf

It’s because of Randy Wolf we’ve all learned about the existence of the 45-day advanced-consent release. And it’s because of the 45-day advanced-consent release that Randy Wolf isn’t on the Mariners anymore, after having learned they wanted him in the starting rotation. Basically, the Mariners didn’t want to guarantee seven figures to a potentially temporary This post came from: U.S.S. Mariner, and is copyright by the authors. Chris Young contract details: 45-day consent waiver included

Chris Young gets the same terms Randy Wolf walked away from. Chris Young has signed and is expected to open camp in the Mariners rotation. But after Hisashi Iwakuma and Taijuan Walker return, all bets are off. It was widely assumed that with language like "major league contract" that Young was going to make his $1.25 million no matter what, and maybe hit some incentives along with way, up to an additional $3.475 million. Turns out that what forced Randy Wolf out the door was good enough for Young. Young said he signed a 45 day consent waiver with the Mariners — Ryan Divish (@RyanDivish)...

Controversy surrounds Seattle Mariners’ release of pitcher Randy Wolf

Why, after throwing well enough during spring training to make the team as a back-of-the-rotation starter, did veteran pitcher Randy Wolf ask for and receive his release this week from the Seattle Mariners? As it turns out, according to reports, Wolf had a falling out of sorts with the club, stemming from the pitcher’s refusal […]

Randy Wolf rejects Mariners' rotation job after team tries to alter his contract

Randy Wolf was hoping to catch on with the Mariners, but asked for his release. (Darron Cummings/AP) Randy Wolf won the final spot in the Mariners’ rotation this spring, but the Mariners released him, at his request, on Tuesday. Wolf didn’t ask for his release because of injury, illness, or off-field issues, however. Before adding him to the active […]

Jack Zduriencik and the Mariners brass suddenly get cheap

Seattle Mariners post by Brian Scott. Randy Wolf pitched well enough to make this 2014 Mariners. In my opinion. It's definitely not happening now as Wolf was granted his release. Following his release, Wolf stated to the media that after the M's informed him he had made the team AND they wanted him to sign a 45 day advance release consent form. Bogus move.

Randy Wolf opts out of his contract after refusing to sign 45-day clause

Things got a little odd today in Peoria. After it seemed as Randy Wolf made the opening day starting rotation - which he apparently did, we learned that Wolf asked to be released from his contract and the Mariners granted his release. So what happened?' Well, the Mariners told Wolf on Tuesday that he had made the team and would be in the starting rotation. But in the midst of that, they slipped in that they wanted him to sign 45-day advanced-consent relief form. And Randy Wolf said, "No." "I was principally objected to that simply because we negotiated in good faith in February on a team...

Mariners release Randy Wolf, Blake Beavan and Roenis Elias appear to make rotation

Mariners release Randy Wolf, Blake Beavan and Roenis Elias appear to make rotation

Wolf is also out, which means Beavan and Elias appear to be in as the Mariners get stretched as thin as possible. This is getting comical. Randy Wolf is out according to multiple sources, and barring a late addition, Roenis Elias will make the jump from AA to the majors and Blake Beavan, in spite of his performance yesterday, is in. Gross. The stipulations of Wolf's release are complicated. Via Bob Dutton, Wolf was told he made the team, but that the team wanted to sign him to a 45-day advance release. According to Wolf, this meant the Mariners could have done anything they wanted with him...
