A’s are defeated, but don’t feel defeatist; that’s a plus

A’s are defeated, but don’t feel defeatist; that’s a plus

There was the predictable silence in the A’s clubhouse after Monday’s game ended with Adrian Beltre taking Ryan Madson deep for a game-winning two-run homer. There wasn’t any of the predictable woe-is-me that often befits teams in fourth place and… Continue Reading → The post A’s are defeated, but don’t feel defeatist; that’s a plus appeared first on Inside the As.

Game #100: We miss you, Sean Doolittle

The A's were an out away from a win again, but Ryan Madson gave up another walkoff dinger. This one was by Adrian Beltre, taking a nice win away from the A's. The A's did everything right tonight, getting within an out of victory before Ryan Madson gently placed the ball on a tee for Adrian Beltre to deposit into the left-field seats, winning the game for the Rangers by a count of 7-6. It's a game the A's could have and should have won, but didn't. Sean Doolittle, please come back. An auspicious start If you were to anthropomorphize the A's struggles against bad left handed pitchers, the...

But his 1-0 lead is given up in the bottom of the 9th by A's closer Ryan Madson who blows the save in the 9th followed by a loss for Liam Hendriks in the 10th. The A's lose 2-1 in a game that was all theirs until the bottom of the 9th. Pretty Pitching.  That's the best way to label the type of play today.  Luckily it was prettiest from the finger-tips of Sean Manaea.  It's not to say that bats from both dugouts didn't connect; they did, actually quite...

The Daily Bernie, 7/7/16: More All-Star rumblings for Oakland A’s

Another Oakland player could be headed to San Diego next week, and trade buzz is slowly increasing regarding a fan favorite, among other news. Welcome back to the Daily Bernie! It’s the best dance in the game, so let’s get rolling once more! With his closer Wade Davis on the disabled list, manager Ned Yost will have to decide which reliever he will add to the All-Star roster in his spot. According to Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle, there are “rumblings” that Yost could give the spot to A’s closer and former Royal Ryan Madson. Madson has been solid this year for the...
