philly.com — The Phillies have not had a homegrown third baseman play the position on a regular basis at the major-league level since Scott Rolen was traded to the St. Louis Cardinals in the middle of the 2002 season. They believe that is soon going to change.

CBSSports.com Fantasy — Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said Monday he reached out to free agent third baseman Scott Rolen. Cashman said if the circumstances were right, then he thinks Rolen might play in 2013, but he wouldn't say if he would consider signing with the Yankees, according to YES Network. Cashman hinted Rolen wants some guarantee of playing time and money.
