Miguel Cabrera beats Sergio Romo, but SF Giants beat Tigers

By Henry Schulman Detroit – On the final pitch of the 2012 World Series, Miguel Cabrera expected a slider. Sergio Romo threw a fastball. History was made. On the first pitch of the eighth inning Saturday it was Romo vs. Cabrera again. Cabrera got his slider, a hanger, and he did not miss it, slamming his second homer of the game over the left-field fence. The personal battle ended differently, but the game outcome was the same. Despite Cabrera’s second homer of the game, the Giants held on to beat the Tigers 5-4. Romo had inherited a 5-3 lead from Jean Machi when Cabrera took him deep....
