Seth Smith clubs fourth home run

CBSSports.com Fantasy — Athletics outfielder Seth Smith clubbed his fourth home run of the season Monday against the Rangers.  In the second inning, Smith hit a solo shot against A's starter Josh Lindblom. Smith later added an RBI single. He also walked twice during the game. He scored three runs. Smith is hitting .285/.352/.451 in 144 at-bats.

Seth Smith getting over tonsilitis

CBSSports.com Fantasy — Athletics outfielder Seth Smith has been playing through tonsilitis the past few days and feels better as of Monday, the San Francisco Chronicle reports.  Smith went 0 for 4 Sunday in New York to lower his average to .283, but was 2 for 4 the game before while playing through his illness. He has three homers and 17 RBI.

CBSSports.com Fantasy — Athletics manager Bob Melvin said Sunday that outfielder Seth Smith has been dealing with a minor illness, the San Francisco Chronicle reports.  Smith said he's fine and feels better when moving around. He was in the lineup in New York batting eighth.  Smith, batting .295 on the year, has gone 8 for 36 (.222) over his last seven games with a homer and seven RBI.

He went 1 for 5 with a homer, three RBI and two runs scored in the 9-8 win. Smith forced in a run when he reached on a fielder's choice in the sixth inning before hitting a two-run bomb off Troy Patton in the seventh. Seth Smith drives in three runs

CBSSports.com Fantasy — The Athletics gave Seth Smith a start at designated hitter on Tuesday night in Boston. In a weather-shortened 13-0 victory, Smith had a big performance.  The outfielder took Alfredo Aceves deep in the fourth inning for a two-run blast, his second homer of the season. He also walked with the bases loaded against Aceves in the first inning.  Smith went 1 for 4 with a walk and two runs scored as he drove in three runs.
