Shaun Marcum suffers another defeat

CBSSports.com Fantasy — It was another start and another defeat for Mets pitcher Shaun Marcum Monday at home against the Reds. Marcum did just enough to fall to 0-5 on the year.  Marcum gave up four earned runs -- three in the first -- and the Mets lost 4-3. He was victimized twice by Jay Bruce, who hit a run-scoring double in the first and a home run in the sixth inning. In all, Marcum allowed four runs on six hits and a walk over six frames. Shaun Marcum remains winless

CBSSports.com Fantasy — Mets starting pitcher Shaun Marcum was unable to pick up his first win of the season in Wednesday's start against the Cardinals despite turning in a quality start. Marcum surrendered three runs (two earned) on five hits and one walk while striking out three in 6 2/3 innings. It was the first time this season Marcum pitched at least five full innings. He takes an 0-4 record and 6.75 ERA into a home start against the Reds Monday.

CBSSports.com Fantasy — Mets starting pitcher Shaun Marcum fell to 0-3 on the year by surrendering six earned runs on nine hits in 4 2/3 innings against the Pirates Friday, striking out two and walking none. Marcum also took a line drive off his glove hand, but stayed in to pitch after being checked out by trainers. Manager Terry Collins said after the game that X-rays on Marcum's left thumb were negative, ESPNNewYork.com reports.
