Enjoy Eric Young Jr’s great start for however long it lasts

My strong preference was for the Mets to sign Shin-Soo Choo this past offseason. However, Sandy Alderson did not want to put all of his eggs into one basket and instead spent $32.25 million on Bartolo Colon, Curtis Granderson and Chris Young. While it will be interesting to see the value the Mets get for their free agent dollars versus what Choo puts up, it will also be interesting to see at the end of the year how Choo does versus the Mets’ leadoff hitters. Eric Young Jr. has started most of the games for the Mets as a leadoff hitter. Let’s see how Young Jr. and Choo are doing here in...

Leonys Martin's voice needs more bass?

ARLINGTON, Texas -- It turns out that Texas Rangers center fielder Leonys Martin was calling for the ball that was dropped in the outfield during Wednesday's game, but Shin-Soo Choo couldn't hear his high-pitched teammate. "We're trying to work with Leonys on getting some bass in his voice," manager Ron Washington joked Thursday morning. "Then Choo would have heard him. It's just communication, that's all." Martin and Choo came in to field a fly ball off the bat of Mike Zunino in the fourth inning and bumped into each other.

Shin-Soo Choo comes through again; Rangers score three in ninth, earn second straight walk-off victory

Extra Bases: The Shin-Soo Choo blueprint

ARLINGTON, Texas -- For those wondering how Texas Rangers general manager Jon Daniels and his staff envisioned Shin-Soo Choo's presence in the lineup, Tuesday was Exhibit A. Perhaps the biggest reason the Rangers stretched to a seventh year on Choo -- something they only did late in the negotiating process this past offseason -- was his ability to get on base. Choo seems to do it by any means possible. On Tuesday, he was hit by a pitch in the left foot, walked and had two singles, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Shin-Soo Choo reaching base plus Elvis Andrus bunt and Adrian Beltre hits equal Texas Rangers come-from-behind win

ARLINGTON – The Rangers overcame a two-run deficit to post their first walkoff win of the year when Adrian Beltre singled home Shin-Soo Choo with one out in the ninth inning for a 4-3 win over Philadelphia. The Rangers trailed …

5 reasons Rangers will/won't win AL West

ARLINGTON, Texas -- It's been a crazy spring full of medical reports and injury timetables. And it's left the AL West even more uncertain than it was a few months ago. As we do every year, here are five reasons the Rangers will win the AL West and five reasons they won't. FIVE REASONS RANGERS WILL WIN THE AL WEST 1. Top of the lineup. The Rangers added Shin-Soo Choo and Prince Fielder this offseason, bolstering a lineup that didn't score runs consistently enough in 2013.

Who has better year: Fielder or Choo?

We're a week away from Opening Day and will spend the next few days talking about some of the key storylines, questions and issues for this club heading into the 2014 season. Today's question? Who has the better year: Prince Fielder or Shin-Soo Choo? The Texas Rangers made two big offseason acquisitions to bolster the lineup in acquiring power-hitting, left-handed first baseman Fielder and leadoff man Choo (shameless plug: you can read about how they did that here: Part 1 and Part 2).
