Boston Red Sox Blog | ESPN Boston — BOSTON -- Stephen Drew is back at shortstop after sitting Saturday with what manager John Farrell described as a regular day of rest. Drew also missed two games on the team’s recent road trip but Farrell indicated that had nothing to do with this latest rest, which came in a day game after a night game and with a left-hander on the mound, the perfect time to spell someone who has the usual wear and tear. Drew’s return thrusts Jose Iglesias back to third base for the second time since his promotion.

CBSSports.com Fantasy — Red Sox shortstop Stephen Drew was held out of the starting lineup Saturday for regular rest, though manager John Farrell told MLB.com that Drew has been bothered by soreness following an awkward slide into second base on a double against the Twins on May 17."I ran so hard to get to second, just the way I hit the bag, all my force bent my back in the middle," Drew said. "It was awkward."Drew has been held without a hit in his last 17 at-bats. He is hitting .125 with one home run and four RBI in his last 12 games.

Boston Red Sox Blog | ESPN Boston — BOSTON -- Red Sox shortstop Stephen Drew is getting a regular day off Saturday, although manager John Farrell indicated that Drew is still sore from a back issue that caused him to miss two games on the recent road trip. Drew got up slowly after a diving stop Friday night but Farrell said there was no major cause for concern. "He's felt some soreness from [the back injury] but it hasn't been to the point of keeping him out of the lineup once he returned," he said.
