Cubs claim Kameron Loe from Mariners

CBSSports.com Fantasy — The Cubs have claimed reliever Kameron Loe from the Mariners and moved Steve Clevenger to the 60-day disabled list, ESPN Chicago reports. Loe, 31, allowed eight runs on 11 hits over 4.1 innings before being designated for assignment by Seattle last week. He'll fill the Cubs bullpen spot opened by Kyuji Fujikawa's injury, although he is unlikely to receive save opportunities.

Clevenger was manning the backup catcher role and occasionally putting in some infield work -- he has a start at third base this season -- but was largely used as a pinch hitter early on. Clevenger fell to the ground in severe pain after striking out, and he had to be helped off the field. Clevenger was pinch hitting for pitcher James Russell when he took an awkward swing at Giants closer Santiago Casilla's last pitch. Clevenger fell down and writhed in pain as teammates and training staff came to his aid. A source said that the first diagnosis by team doctors indicated Clevenger sustained a left oblique injury.
