Mets Injury Update: Travis d’Arnaud close to returning

Mets Injury Update: Travis d’Arnaud close to returning

The catcher is working his way back from a wrist injury. Travis d’Arnaud caught Steven Matz for the Las Vegas 51s last nigh and should be back with the Mets soon. the Mets’ catcher went on the DL earlier this month with a bone bruise on his right wrist. He initially sustained the injury in April when his wrist hit Aaron Altherr’s bat when he was attempting to throw a runner out. He tried to play through it but had to exit a game early in May when the injury started to bother him again. While Rene Rivera has performed admirably in Travis d’Arnaud’s absence, d’Aranud’s return to...

Mets Daily Prospect Report, 5/24/17: They tried to make then pitch in rehab, I wish they said no, no, no

Catch up on all the Mets prospects in yesterday's minor league action! *All results from games played on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 Triple-A - Las Vegas 51s (19-27) ROUND ROCK 14, LAS VEGAS 3 (Box) Welp. It was that kinda game. At least Travis Taijeron went yard, and Amed Rosario continued punishing the PCL? Steven Matz wasn’t really all that great in his rehab start, allowing five runs over four innings, but at least he was on the mound, and he was striking guys out. He did better than poor Kevin McGowan, who allowed six runs while only notching two outs. Cesar Puello extracted revenge on...

Final score: Mets 9, Padres 3—Mets hold Confortable lead

Final score: Mets 9, Padres 3—Mets hold Confortable lead

The Mets scored early and often. The Mets beat the Padres 9-3 this evening at Citi Field after they scored seven runs in the first inning and mostly cruised to a win from there. Michael Conforto was the star of the show with a leadoff home run, a two-run single later in the first inning, and another home run in the fourth inning. Matt Harvey went five innings, threw 103 pitches with six strikeouts and four walks, and gave up two runs. The inefficiency there is obvious, but he pitched worse than that line might indicate and got a little lucky to get out of the game with only two runs...

Padres vs. Mets: Amazins welcome to Queens another lousy west coast squad

Padres vs. Mets: Amazins welcome to Queens another lousy west coast squad

The Mets are much better than the Padres, so let’s get some wins, please. The Mets started to get rolling over the weekend only to leave a sour taste in their fans’ mouths on Sunday with a blowout loss to the Angels in the series finale. It seems like we’re saying this a lot these days, but that loss only counts as one and the Mets still have plenty of time to right the ship. Soon, they might have the talent to do so as well. Steven Matz and Yoenis Cespedes are both really close to 100 percent and will be tremendously helpful to New York’s efforts. Cespedes will be useful because...

Injury Notes: Matz, Hughes, Cardinals, Span, Flaherty

The Mets may welcome back lefty Steven Matz sooner than later, David Lennon of Newsday reports on Twitter. Indeed, if he has a strong outing tomorrow at Triple-A, the club may allow him to make his next start at the major league level. That would obviously represent welcome news for the beleaguered Mets staff. Whether Matz…

Steven Matz could rejoin Mets after Tuesday’s Triple-A rehab start

Steven Matz could rejoin Mets after Tuesday’s Triple-A rehab start

Matz could rejoin the rotation next week. According to Newsday’s David Lennon, depending on the how he fares in his rehab start on Tuesday with the Triple-A Las Vegas 51s, the Mets could decide to activate Steven Matz from the disabled list sooner than originally expected. Matz has made one rehab start with the St. Lucie Mets, tossing three innings of one-run ball on May 18. Matz has been on the disabled list since the end of spring training in March, when he developed a flexor tendon strain in his pitching arm. Matz’s injury was initially considered just “elbow tenderness” when the...
