Taylor Teagarden doing more rehab work

CBSSports.com Fantasy — Orioles catcher Taylor Teagarden will begin a hitting and catching progression Monday as he rehabs from a left thumb injury, MASNSports.com reports Sunday.  Teagarden just had the splint removed from his thumb Saturday. The catcher is not close to going on an injury rehab assignment.

Taylor Teagarden removes splint

CBSSports.com Fantasy — Orioles catcher Taylor Teagarden, on the 15-day disabled list, had his splint on his injured left thumb removed Friday, according to MLB.com. Teagarden has been sidelined since April 27. The Orioles have yet to announce a concrete timetable for his return, though he was initially given a 3-4 week recovery timetable when the injury first occurred.

Taylor Teagarden will avoid 60-day DL

CBSSports.com Fantasy — Orioles injured catcher Taylor Teagarden is not likely to be moved to the 60-day disabled list, the Baltimore Sun reports Tuesday.  Baltimore believes his timetable for a return is about 3-4 weeks. It could be longer, but the 60-day DL won't be necessary, according to manager Buck Showalter.

Taylor Teagarden officially on DL

CBSSports.com Fantasy — The Orioles placed catcher Taylor Teagarden on the disabled list Sunday, as expected, after he dislocated his left thumb Saturday against Oakland, MASNSports.com reports. Teagarden is expected to miss 3-4 weeks of action due to the injury. Baltimore recalled Luis Exposito to take his place on the roster as he is the only other backstop on the 40-man for the Orioles. Teagarden, an excellent fielding backup catcher behind Matt Wieters, had gone 0 for 13 at the plate on the season to this point.

Luis Exposito summoned by Orioles

CBSSports.com Fantasy — The Orioles recalled catcher Luis Exposito from Triple-A Norfolk Sunday before a game against Oakland with Taylor Teagarden going on the disabled list, MASNSports.com reports. Exposito will back up Matt Wieters behind the plate.  He was batting .218 at Norfolk with three doubles and six RBI over 55 at-bats. Exposito made several poor fielding plays during spring training, MASNSports.com reports. He is the best among very few options at the catcher position in the Baltimore organization.
