Rockies news and links for January 19, 2019 Yankees have discussed the possibility of trying to trade for Rockies’ Nolan Arenado, report says | CBS SportsThe New York Yankees have reportedly had internal discussions about trading for Colorado Rockies’ third baseman Nolan Arenado, writes Dayn Perry of CBS Sports. With former Rockies’ Troy Tulowitzki, DJ LeMahieu and Adam Ottavino all joining the Yankees this offseason, it would be tough to see Arenado be next. Note that there has been no indication from Rockies’ General Manager Jeff Bridich that the Rockies are interested in trading...

New York Yankees: Making a run at Nolan Arenado?

They’ve added Adam Ottavino to their bullpen and Troy Tulowitzki and DJ Lemahieu to […] New York Yankees: Making a run at Nolan Arenado? - Call to the Pen - Call to the Pen - A Major League Baseball Fan Site - News, Blogs, Opinion and More

The Yankees will have some reshuffling to do if they make a major move

The signing of Manny Machado or Bryce Harper, or a trade for Corey Kluber, would leave the Yankees with logjam after logjam. While the Yankees’ offseason has often been frustrating, for the most part, it has at least been lively. They led off by bringing back their veteran stalwarts in Brett Gardner and CC Sabathia. They re-signed key trade additions from last year, J.A. Happ and Zach Britton. They traded for a high-upside starter in James Paxton, and shored up their infield depth with DJ LeMahieu and Troy Tulowitzki. Conspicuously, they haven’t appeared to aggressively pursue any of...

Saturday night open thread

Here’s your open thread for the evening! So, 2019 is off to an...interesting start. The Yankees have signed Troy Tulowitzki, Zach Britton, and DJ La-idonotwanttolearnhowtospellhisnameyet. There doesn’t appear to be infield room for Manny Machado, unless there is some kind of trade coming. The team might even be set for the offseason. Time will tell. Fun Questions What are your favorite chips to snack on? Do you think the Yankees are done for the offseason?

Colorado Rockies: A Thank You to DJ LeMahieu

Well, the inevitable has finally become official. Longtime Rockies second baseman DJ LeMahieu has signed a 2-year contract for $24 million with the New York Yankees. He’ll join old friend Troy Tulowitzki in a reshaped Yankees infield that should have no shortage of power, defensive acumen, or top-level professionalism. Looking back on LeMahieu legacy with […] Colorado Rockies: A Thank You to DJ LeMahieu - Rox Pile - Rox Pile - A Colorado Rockies Fan Site - News, Blogs, Opinion and More

So, uh, what’s the plan when Didi Gregorius comes back?

The Yankees have a lot of infielders now. While it’s not a move people would have expected (or wanted, for a lot of fans), the Yankees signed DJ LeMahieu on Friday. Barring anything unforeseen happening, that probably locks in the Yankees infield for the 2019 season. Reportedly, LeMahieu will play a sort of super utility role, alternating between first, second, and third. Miguel Andujar, Gleyber Torres, and other former Rockie Troy Tulowitzki will probably all get plenty of time at their positions. There will be some combination of Luke Voit and Greg Bird at first. Torres will probably...

Saturday Rockpile: A DJ to Remember

Rockies news and links for January 12, 2019 Report: DJ LeMahieu leaves Rockies to join New York Yankees | Mile High SportsThe Rockies officially bid adieu to their second baseman of seven seasons on Friday as DJ LeMahieu signed a 2-year, $24 million deal with the New York Yankees. As Rich Kurtzman of Mile High Sports notes, LeMahieu will reunite with another former Rockies’ infielder in the Bronx, joining shortstop Troy Tulowitzki up the middle. While it hurts to see the loss of a Gold Glove second baseman and fan favorite, the move does provide a clearer path to playing time for Ryan...

Colorado fan favorite D.J. LeMahieu reportedly signs two-year contract with New York Yankees

Reports: LeMahieu to NYY for 2/$24M

Multiple reports indicate that the Yankees have agreed on a two year, $24 million deal with free agent infielder D.J. LeMahieu MLB Rumors: The New York Yankees and D.J. LeMahieu are in agreement on a two year, $24 million deal, according to multiple reports. LeMahieu was the last premium second baseman left on the free agent market. The Yankees signing LeMahieu is something of a surprise, as they had already signed Troy Tulowitzki to a one year deal to play shortstop until Didi Gregorius, who is currently rehabbing from Tommy John surgery, is ready to return, and they were considered to...

The Yankees are hoping Troy Tulowitzki catches lightning in a bottle

The old shortstop was terrible the last time he was on the field, and could continue to decline Every acquisition is a careful balance of risk. An MLB team signing me to a $50 million contract carries a tremendous amount of risk, since I’m not particularly likely to be much of an MLB player. The Yankees’ acquisition of Troy Tulowitzki, conversely, carries less risk since he’s being paid the MLB minimum and can be DFA’d without many other considerations should he be unproductive. However, as it appears more and more likely that the Yankees will rely on Troy Tulowitzki to be the...

The Troy Tulowitzki signing gives the Yankees some clarity regarding their bench construction

It’s someone I don’t think any of us expected, but the Yankees have their Didi Gregorius replacement in Troy Tulowitzki. The Blue Jays released Tulowitzki last month, the Yankees scooped him up at the league minimum, and Brian Cashman made it pretty clear Tulowitzki is expected to be the starting shortstop while Didi Gregorius is […] The post The Troy Tulowitzki signing gives the Yankees some clarity regarding their bench construction appeared first on River Avenue Blues.

Yankees Potential Free Agent Target: Josh Harrison

Yankees Potential Free Agent Target: Josh Harrison

Will the Yankees look to bring in insurance for Troy Tulowitzki? With the Manny Machado saga still unfolding, we’ve profiled seemingly every other infielder the Yankees could target should Machado sign with another team. From glove-first shortstops like Freddy Galvis and Jose Iglesias, to versatile players like Marwin Gonzalez and Jed Lowrie, to darkhorses like DJ LeMahieu, the ranks of free agent infielders are vast, albeit underwhelming compared to Machado. The Yankees, of course, threw in a twist when they secured the services of Troy Tulowitzki. Most reports have suggested that...
