Rockies score first, Marlins don’t score at all in 6-0 win

Rockies score first, Marlins don’t score at all in 6-0 win

Four run first inning holds the Rockies pace in front of the Wild Card chase Taking a page from the books of other Wild Card rivals, the Colorado Rockies decided to score four runs in the first inning en route to a 6-0 win over the Miami Marlins. That offensive outburst backed a great start by Tyler Anderson, who threw seven shutout innings. Only two Marlins runners got to scoring position all night as Anderson and the bullpen were exemplary. Perhaps there was a bit of scoreboard watching going on as the Milwaukee Brewers jumped to a four run lead in the bottom of the first inning over the...

Rockies shut out again, lose 3-0 to Padres

The offense hasn’t scored in two games. I never thought the Colorado Rockies would be a borderline playoff team whose hopes might be undone by bad offense. There are probably very few people who thought that. And yet here we are, as the Rockies lost their fourth straight game and were shut out for the second game in a row in a 3-0 loss to the San Diego Padres. The return of good Tyler Anderson continues to be a welcome development for the Rockies. The lefty once again reminded us of his fine 2016 form, keeping hitters off balance and forcing lots of soft contact. Unfortunately a hapless...

Colorado Rockies dominate San Diego Padres in a 16-0 victory

To say this game went well for the Rockies would be an understatement. The Colorado Rockies took it to the San Diego Padres in dominating fashion on Saturday night. They took home a 16-0 win—their largest margin of victory since a 19-3 drubbing of the Houston Astros on September 25, 2011—and clinched their first winning season since 2010. Rockies’ starting pitcher Tyler Anderson took a no hitter into the sixth inning in his first start since June 25, and former Rockie Jordan Lyles was roughed up in his return to Coors Field as the home team saw their lead for the second Wild Card grow...
