CBSSports.com Fantasy — Hidden in a disappointing overall stat line for Red Sox third baseman Will Middlebrooks is the hot run he's been on: a .275 average with two home runs, seven doubles and a .910 OPS over his last 10 games. Started in just 64 percent of leagues, Middlebrooks has been a nice Fantasy asset lately, turning in a 20-point performance in Week 7 and finding what looks to be a groove in mid-May.  Middlebrooks strikes out a lot, but he balances it with nice power (eight home runs in 160 at-bats this year) and a shot at a decent average (he hit .288 last year). Since homering three times April 7, Middlebrooks is batting .193 with four home runs in his last 36 games.

Boston Herald — As far as collisions go, it appears the one between Red Sox third baseman Will Middlebrooks and catcher David Ross Tuesday night looked a lot worse than it could have been.After just one day off, both were back in the lineup for last night’s series finale against the Twins, nursing only soreness and cracking jokes instead of taking a trip to the disabled list.Middlebrooks was 1-for-4 while hitting seventh in the Red Sox 5-3 loss to the Twins.
