The move could provide the Braves with some minor-league depth at no financial risk, since Oakland is paying most of his $4 million salary this season. He'll take the day off from throwing Tuesday, and on Wednesday he'll throw a bullpen session that could help determine how soon he gets off the disabled list. Strasburg is eligible to come off the DL Aug. 6. "I think he's prob...

Here, as the Nationals are about to officially introduce Cuban right-hander Yunesky Maya, is full transcript: On why Adam Dunn wasn't traded: "The reason we didn't trade Adam Dunn is we never got a deal we thought was equal or greater value to Adam Dunn. We were on the receiving end of the calls. We weren't making the calls. We got a lot of interest in Adam. We just didn't see an equal return to what Adam Dunn brings to the ball club on and off the field." On how close they came: "We never made a deal." On how close the deadline the Nats were...
  • The gamble the Nationals take with an unsigned, un-traded Adam Dunn Nationals Journal | Washington Post As 4 p.m. approached and the Nationals clubhouse had cleared out aside from a few players, Willie Harris counted down along with the clock on the clubhouse television. "Twenty seconds!" he said. Adam Dunn's name was in the lineup. "Fifteen seconds!" Josh Willingham stood by, smiling and watching the television. Weeks of speculation, days packed with swirling rumors, were about to unravel into the status quo. "Ten seconds!" The price for Adam Dunn, General Manager Mike Rizzo, had said the day before, would remain high and not come down a bit at the deadline. The Chicago White Sox had offered Ed...
