Detroit Tigers left fielder Yoenis Cespedes not surprising anyone with hot streak

Detroit Tigers left fielder Yoenis Cespedes not surprising anyone with hot streak

Cespedes is riding an eight-game hit streak going into Sundays series finale against Chicago, and has hit safely in 18 of his last 19 games. DETROIT -- Miguel Cabrera's monster numbers in the batter's box might overshadow Yoenis Cespedes, but opposing managers aren't overlooking the Tigers' left fielder. Chicago White Sox Robin Ventura said his pitching staff needs to use the same level of caution approaching Cespedes as any hitter in its rival's deep lineup. "He's dangerous," Ventura said. Watch Rajai Davis rob a home run with a leaping catch

Anibal Sanchez nearly gave up another bomb tonight. Fortunately Rajai Davis had his high-jump shoes on. DETROIT -- The Detroit Tigers offense has been ailing. Sonny Gray was not the cure. The Tigers managed just two hits -- both singles -- in eight shutout innings by Gray on Wednesday night in a 6-1 loss to the Oakland Athletics. The Tigers have scored just 20 runs in their past nine games and avoided their third shutout during that stretch when Miguel Cabrera doubled home...
