Texas Rangers Blog | ESPN Dallas ARLINGTON, Texas -- Oakland Athletics starting pitcher Dan Straily entered Tuesday night’s game with a 7.27 ERA. But, for one night, Straily outpitched the heralded Yu Darvish in the rarest of rare happenings at Rangers Ballpark, a game in which one run is enough to win. This marks only the 13th time that has happened. Yoenis Cespedes’ home run in the third inning off Darvish stood up as the game winner. The Rangers offense came close to taking the night off.
Texas Rangers May 21, 2013Texas Rangers Blog | ESPN Dallas ARLINGTON, Texas -- So far any concern about the 130 pitches Yu Darvish threw in Thursday's start against the Detroit Tigers aren't shared by the pitcher himself. It has been business as usual for the seven-game winner, who said he hasn't changed anything about his between-starts routine. "I didn't have much fatigue after the 130 pitches," Darvish said. His next start against the Oakland A's and their right-hander Dan Straily will have a little less -- make that a lot less -- hype than Thursday's matchup against Detroit's Justin Verlander.
Texas Rangers May 19, 2013Texas Rangers Blog | ESPN Dallas ARLINGTON, Texas -- It's all about Yu Darvish vs. Justin Verlander on Thursday. But the matchup between the Rangers and Detroit Tigers also features two American League powerhouses. It should be an entertaining four-game series. The Rangers have a seven-game lead in the AL West and have the best record in basbeall. The Tigers are a 1/2 game ahead of Clevelend in the AL Central. Here's what to watch for as these two titans clash in Arlington: Failing to sweep Houston: The Tigers arrive in Texas with a missed opportunity -- they didn't sweep the Astros at home.
Texas Rangers May 16, 2013Houston Chronicle Although it wasn’t as impressive as a near perfect game, Rangers righthander Yu Darvish pitched seven strong innings to earn the 8-7 victory in his first trip back to Minute Maid Park since he retired the first 26 Astros on April 2. Darvish (6-1) held the Astros to three runs on three hits and three walks with eight strikeouts. Matt Dominguez accounted for the Astros’ three runs against Darvish with a solo home run in the third inning and a two-run homer in the fifth. “He was really aggressive. I think that’s why he was able to hit them,” Darvish said of Dominguez. With the eight strikeouts, D...
Houston Astros May 11, 2013Texas Rangers Blog | ESPN Dallas HOUSTON -- Yu Darvish retired the first six batters he faced in Saturday night's 8-7 victory over the Houston Astros, but you could tell early on he didn't have anywhere near the dominant stuff he had on April 2 when he was one out from a perfect game. Darvish went to a full count to three of the first six batters he faced. He allowed his first baserunner with one out in the third inning on Astros third baseman Matt Dominguez's solo home run to left field.
Texas Rangers May 11, 2013Foul Territory | Fort-Worth Star Telegram HOUSTON -- Yu Darvish didn't flirt with a perfect game this time around at Minute Maid Park, but he pitched well and received enough what appeared to be plenty of run support in the sixth inning. The Texas Rangers turned...

Texas Rangers May 11, 2013Texas Rangers Blog | ESPN Dallas The Texas Rangers just finished off a sweep of the Boston Red Sox behind 14 strikeouts by Yu Darvish and now share the best record in baseball with the Red Sox and St. Louis Cardinals. So, naturally, the Rangers, who were No. 1 last week in ESPN's Power Rankings, will continue to hold down the top spot, right? Wrong. After holding down the No. 3 spot in the Power Rankings in each of the past two weeks, the Red Sox moved up to take over the top spot for Week 6, while the Rangers dropped to No.

Texas Rangers April 19, 2013Texas Rangers Blog | ESPN Dallas ARLINGTON, Texas -- Yu Darvish has three wins this season, all after Rangers losses. That's an ace, right? It's exactly what the Rangers needed Friday night from Darvish, who dominated in a 7-0 victory over Seattle just hours after the club found out that Opening Day starter Matt Harrison is out until the All-Star break at best. That puts extra pressure on Darvish, even if he said it's on all of the starters while Harrison is out. The Rangers suffered a lackluster 6-2 loss to the Chicago Cubs on Thursday.
