Great game for J.A. Happ, Jays win

Great game for J.A. Happ, Jays win

Happ pitches 7 shutout innings, and gets 2 hits and a walk. Blue Jays 12 Mets 1 Winning in the rain. We are winning in the rain. What a glorious feeling, I'm happy today. J.A. Happ was terrific. He pitched 7 innings, and allowed just 2 hits, with 10 strikeouts. Considering he had two hits, a walk and two runs scored, it’s a pretty nice day. I thought Happ was benefitting from a fairly large strike zone, especially early in the game, when umpire Nic Lentz wanted to be sure to get through 5 innings. Aaron Loup pitched the 8th and Danny Barnes the 9th (with the rain coming down hard again),...

Final Score: Blue Jays 12, Mets 1 — The wheels came off

Final Score: Blue Jays 12, Mets 1 — The wheels came off

A rainy, miserable day at Queens. The Mets got walloped by the Blue Jays, 12-1, after scoring 12 runs of their own just last night. Zack Wheeler started for the Mets, and looked great early on, aside from a first inning home run to Justin Smoak. Wheeler had six strikeouts through the first three innings, but the wheels came off (pun slightly intended) after an 18-minute delay to deal with a soaking wet infield. Over the fourth and fifth innings, Wheeler gave up five more runs, including a two-run home run to Teoscar Hernandez. Wheeler went four plus innings, striking out seven, walking...

Mets put Yoenis Cespedes on DL with no clear return date

Yoenis Cespedes no longer has the option to play through pain. Following Tuesday’s MRI exam, which revealed the outfielder had a mild strain of his right hip flexor, the Mets placed Cespedes on the 10-day disabled list — retroactive to Monday — before Wednesday’s 12-1 loss to the Blue Jays at Citi Field. Cespedes had...

Game #43 Preview: Happ vs Wheeler

Game #43 Preview: Happ vs Wheeler

Blue Jays (21-21) vs Mets (20-18) After an ugly, terrible, not good game last night, the Blue Jays go for the 2 game split this afternoon. Today’s game starts at 1:10 ET, so don’t tune in this evening and be sad. Blue Jays’ Starter J.A. Happ is making his 9th start of the season. Through his first 8, he’s 4-3 with a 4.80 ERA. His season looked so much better 2 weeks ago, when he was 4-1 with a 3.50 ERA. But the month has turned to May, and he has allowed 10 runs in his 9 innings, striking out only 6 and walking 6, while watching 3 long balls fly over the fence. His last start...

I’d like a dozen runs to go, please

Wait scoring more than three runs is allowed? The Mets opened up their home stand in desperate need of some offense and a win, and they got both in a 12-2 laugher against the Blue Jays. With the God of Thunder on the mound and @BringerOfRain20 in the visiting dugout, naturally the start of this game was delayed due to severe thunderstorms. After almost an hour and a half delay the game started and a familiar face stepped into the batter’s box. Curtis Granderson got a nice tribute and deserves all the attention he will receive in this brief visit, but unfortunately he also...

Blue Jays: Can we get over Noah Syndergaard and move on?

The Blue Jays traded oah Syndergaard to the New York Mets for .A. Dickey prior to the 2013 season. It’s a trade that still stings, but Blue Jays fans have gotta move on. When your starting rotation is struggling as bad as the Blue Jays’ group has, it’s natural to look around the league and […] Blue Jays: Can we get over Noah Syndergaard and move on? - Jays Journal - Jays Journal - A Toronto Blue Jays Fan Site - News, Blogs, Opinion and More

Garcia gets Clubbed, Mets break Jays’ Hearts on a Diamond in Queens

Deck McGuire makes Blue Jays debut, gets first career hit Bo Bichette hit his first AA home run tonight. I’d recommend allowing that to resonate for a moment before proceeding with the game recap. On we go. — Blue Jays: 2, Mets: 12 We probably guessed that the Jays weren’t likely to win a game with their fifth starter going up against the Mets’ ace, but I don’t know that anyone predicted it would be this lopsided. What started out as an entertaining and close game fell apart quickly and turned into a real stinker that would consequently bring the team’s record down to .500 for...

Syndergaard, Mets break out in 12-2 rout of Blue Jays

NEW YORK — Noah Syndergaard won for the first time in five weeks, knocking in two early runs against the team that traded him to rouse a sluggish New York Mets offense Tuesday night during a 12-2 rout of the Toronto Blue Jays.Missing injured sluggers Yoenis Cespedes and Todd Frazier from a slumping lineup, the Mets finally broke through anyway against Jaime Garcia and the skidding Blue Jays after an 86-minute rain delay at the start.Juan Lagares had four hits, three RBIs and a stolen base to help New York improve to 12-0 at home against Toronto — the longest such streak in interleague...

Final Score: Mets 12, Blue Jays 2-Raining down hits

The Mets offense finally came alive against the Blue Jays. After a delayed start, the Mets’ offense came alive and hammered the Blue Jays 12-2. The offense had been in the doldrums, and with a lefty on the mound for Toronto, the forecast for this game was as bleak as the weather. However, the clouds parted and Met runs actually crossed the plate. Noah Syndergaard got the offense going early when he hit an RBI double to put them on the board. His pitching was a tad shaky and the Blue Jays jumped out to a 2-1 lead in the third, but Syndergaard tied up the game an inning later with a...

Juan Lagares’ four-hit night propels Mets to a rare laugher

Juan Lagares’ chances to play in a crowded Mets outfield have been scant, but his production — especially against left-handed pitchers — is undeniable. On Tuesday soft-tossing lefty Jaime Garcia served as a piñata, not only for Lagares, but the entire Mets lineup in a 12-2 romp over the Blue Jays at soggy Citi Field....
