EYJ & Parker Bridwell, two of 2017’s best stories, lead Halos to 6-2 win over Mariners in season finale

Eric Young Jr had a sweet 3-run dinger and Bridwell got his AL rookie-leading 10th win. Just like that, Angels baseball is over til next spring. Angels 6 Mariners 2 OK, now it’s official ladies and germs. The Angels’ 2017 season is done and in the record books. The Team of Destiny, as we called them so fanatically and passionately thanks to a slew of unbelievable endings, extinguished their flame with a nice 6-2 victory over their AL West rivals, the Seattle Mariners. The Halos finished with a final W/L tally of 80-82, making it the franchise’s first time going consecutive sub-.500...

The Seattle Mariners won't win the 2017 World Series, but they do win tonight's game against the Angels

The Seattle Mariners won't win the 2017 World Series, but they do win tonight's game against the Angels

Tonight was a meaningless baseball game for two teams whose seasons had already ended before tonight's start. The Mariners won this meaningless game. Kyle Seager, Yonder Alonso, and Jacob Hannemann hit home runs. Hannemann's 404 footer was his first at the major league level. Edwin Díaz pitched beautifully, Dan Altavilla less so. I'm not sure what else there is to say. The ends of things have always made me melancholy, baseball seasons particularly so. Days, weeks, months, and years are often conceptually meaningless in our minds, but somehow the arbitrary time periods of sports seasons...

A Mariners comeback win over Halos in 2017’s penultimate game means sub-.500 season

A Mariners comeback win over Halos in 2017’s penultimate game means sub-.500 season

The Angels had a lead going into the eighth inning. Coming out of the eighth inning, they were losing 6-4 and that’s that and what more can I say when we’ve seen this game a dozen times? Angels 4 Mariners 6 The Angels blew another lead, late in the game, just like they did a few times in the past 7-10 days. What more is there for me to say about this type of game for the Angels, especially when it’s the penultimate game of the season and they’re already out of any playoff contention? The most crushing blow in this particular sham was watching Mike Trout, with bases juiced and two...
