Yankees 3, Nationals 0: CC and two Didi dingers give Yankees another win

Good win. Nine relatively stress-free innings against a very good Nationals team? Hard to complain about that. The Yankees won Tuesday night’s series opener 3-0. They are 34-10 since the 9-9 start. Two Didi Dingers You think Didi Gregorius is happy May is over? Good grief what an ugly month that was. Gregorius hit .151/.186/.215 […] The post Yankees 3, Nationals 0: CC and two Didi dingers give Yankees another win appeared first on River Avenue Blues.

Yankees 3, Nationals 0: CC Sabathia and the bullpen combine to shut out Nats

A milestone was passed as Sabathia helped the Yankees to a win over Washington. One good way to respond to getting shut out is to throw a shut out in your next game. CC Sabathia threw 5.2 scoreless innings, before handing it off to the bullpen for 3.1 more. Didi Gregorius powered the offense to a couple runs, and it turned out that was enough to get the win. The Yankees and Nationals finally played a completed game this season, and it ended in a 3-0 Yankees win. After Sabathia stranded runners in both of the first two innings, the Yankees got on the board in the bottom of the second....

Gregorius homers twice, Harper hit twice, Yanks top Nats 3-0

NEW YORK — Didi Gregorius ended a long power outage with a pair of home runs, Washington slugger Bryce Harper left in the eighth inning after he was hit by a pitch for the second time, and the New York Yankees beat the Nationals 3-0 Tuesday night for their 10th win in 12 games.Harper returned to Yankee Stadium for the first time in three years and fell to the ground in pain when hit on the right elbow by a 90 mph pitch from CC Sabathia (4-1) in the fifth inning. The 2015 NL MVP initially remained in the game but came out after he was hit on the left foot by Dellin Betances' 89 mph slider...

Tanner Roark gave up two solo shots by Didi Gregorius and Yankees’ lefty CC Sabathia and the NY bullpen held the Nationals off the board in a 3-0 win in Yankee Stadium. New York Yankees’ shortstop Didi Gregorius took Tanner Roark deep twice, for solo homers both times, and lefty CC Sabathia and the Yanks’ bullpen held the Washington Nationals in check, taking the first of two in Yankee Stadium by a final score of 3-0. Suppoart Roark: Tanner Roark received more runs of support in his last start before tonight (11), than he got in his previous five outings (with a relief appearance...

The Yankees play their first official game against the Nationals After taking two of three against the Mets, the Yankees continue their interleague swing by hosting the Nationals at Yankee Stadium tonight. The two teams have already met this season, but hopefully this will be their first full game of the season. In addition to getting a DH again, Neil Walker is back in the starting lineup, as Miguel Andujar gets the day off. Meanwhile, CC Sabathia gets the start on the mound. He had been struggling of late, but bounced back last time out against Toronto. He allowed two runs in seven...

Game 62: Back in the Bronx

The Yankees are back home in the Bronx after a four-city road trip through Baltimore, Detroit, Toronto, and … uh … New York. They’ll play seven games at home, travel to Washington for one day, then come back to home for another three games. Weird schedule lately. Blame all the rainouts. Anyway, the Nationals are […] The post Game 62: Back in the Bronx appeared first on River Avenue Blues.

Nationals’ lineup for the first of two with Yankees in Yankee Stadium...

Davey Martinez’s lineup is messed up. There’s something called a DH in there, which makes no sense. We’re sure they’ll sort it all out before the start of tonight’s game. Daniel Murphy put up a .322/.384/.543 line with 43 doubles and 23 home runs in 144 games and 593 plate appearances in 2017, finishing the second year of his 3-year/$37.5M deal with the Nationals at 4.5 fWAR. Towards the end of the season, however, as the Nationals and the Chicago Cubs battled it out in the NLDS, Murphy realized that a knee issue he’d been playing through was actually an injury that he had to...

It’s official: Daniel Murphy was reinstated from the DL in time for the start of tonight’s series opener with the Yankees in New York. Davey Martinez and Nationals ready for another test vs Yankees...

Washington’s Nationals are in New York tonight for the first of two games with the New York Yankees in Yankee Stadium. Just like he did before the series with the Arizona Diamondbacks on the road in Chase Field in mid-May, Washington Nationals’ skipper Davey Martinez said the two-game set with the New York Yankees in the nation’s capital last month would test the Nats, who’d won 13 of 15 going into the matchup with the AL East’s division leaders. Aaron Boone’s Yankees entered that series with wins in 19 of 22 games. “In order to get to where you want to be, these are the...

Wire Taps: Daniel Murphy may return today; Where did Justin Miller come from?; The Nationals’ next phenoms

Catch up on the last 24 hours in Nationals news before the start of the two-game set with the Yankees in the Bronx. Today is the last day the Caps will overshadow the Nats, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but it does time up well with Bryce Harper visiting the Bronx for potentially the final time in an opposing team’s uniform. Here’s the news from New York: Daniel Murphy could rejoin the Nationals’ lineup this week ‘if he feels like he’s ready’ (WaPo)Murphy, despite having a timeline of returning for Opening Day at one point, still hasn't returned, and may not feel ready...
