Snake Bytes 6/13: Mr. Toad’s Wild RIde Visits Chase

It wasn’t the longest regulation game in Chase history, but it sure came close. 21 runs on 23 hits, 10 walks, and 4 errors will do that. Pittsburgh 8. Arizona 13 The Diamondbacks set the pace in the first inning, scoring six runs on Pittsburgh, courtesy of three errors. Buchholz Stumbles, Pirates Trip and Fall The Pirates committed three errors in the first inning, allowing Arizona to storm out to a 6-0 lead. Clay Buchholz cruised through the first three innings, but then ran into trouble in the fourth. An error by Arizon didn’t help matter, and suddenly the game was 8-6 in favor of...

Diamondbacks 13, Pirates 8: Six run first isn’t enough, but Dbacks win anyway because baseball is funny like that

Diamondbacks 13, Pirates 8: Six run first isn’t enough, but Dbacks win anyway because baseball is funny like that

At the end of the first, Arizona had a six run lead, and they had a five run lead at the end of ninth, but in between? A little more crazy. The Pirates put together a threat right at the start in the first inning. With one out, Corey Dickerson singled, Starling Marte doubled, and Colin Moran walked to load the bases. However, Clay Buchholz got Elias Diaz to ground into double play, ending the inning with the score still at zero. It wouldn’t remain there for long. Jon Jay lead off the bottom of the inning with his first hit as a Diamondback, a single. Paul Goldschmidt singled as well. A...

Pirates drop eighth series in a row with 13-8 loss to Diamondbacks

PHOENIX — It was hard to envision an uglier game for the Pirates than their 9-5 loss to the Diamondbacks Monday, when they surrendered a five-run lead in the seventh and eighth and lost, 9-5.

Dbacks 13, Pirates 8

Dbacks 13, Pirates 8

Well, this was one heck of a game, that’s for sure. The offense for both teams broke out in a big way tonight. The Diamondbacks scored six in the first, two in the third and fourth, and three in the seventh. John Jay got his first hit as a Diamondback and then two more, including a three-run homer. Goldy got on base four times, two hits and two walks. Also getting multiple hits, Murphy and Ketel Marte. On the pitching side for the Dbacks, things were less great. Clay Buchholz had his first bad outing in Sedona Red, well technically teal, but who’s counting? He was in and out of trouble...
