Sandberg named PCL manager of the year

Chicago Cubs Blog | ESPN Chicago — Triple-A Iowa Cubs manager Ryne Sandberg has been named Pacific Coast League manager of the year. Sandberg, in his first season on the Triple-A level, has led Iowa to an 80-60 record entering action Friday. The Iowa Cubs are in a first-place tie as they enter a series with Memphis that will determine if they’ll reach the postseason. The former Cubs’ Hall of Fame second baseman will be interviewed for the team’s major-league job after the Iowa Cubs are done for the season, according to ESPNChicago.com’s Bruce Levine.
