Oh Captain, My Captain: Beckerman puts in work in loss against Rapids

Real Salt Lake played another chapter of the Rocky Mountain cup and it was not the way the team wanted it to go, but it was a hard fought 90 minutes and RSL deserves credit where credit is due. The defense played well, despite the absence of the preferred starting center back, Aaron Maund. The offense tried to create chances with the passes made from the middle third, but the finishing touch was not there last night. Player ratings: RSL 2-1 Houston Dynamo

The first half was not the prettiest, but most of the second half was a highlight reel. Nick Rimando - 8 Nick Rimando made what was one of the best saves of his career, and that's saying something. He got his paw on a ball that was destine for goal. After that save hit the post, he immediately made another big save, this time with his head. That play preserved a very important three points for RSL before their road stretch. Demar Phillips - 6.5 Phillips looks like he wants his starting job back. Player Ratings: LA Galaxy 5-2 RSL

A slow start led to a horrible first half. Nick Rimando - 5.5 It's difficult to give a fair and accurate rating to a guy who saves a PK on Steven Gerrard but was also scored on five times. Rimando had a nice save or two, but I doubt even he would say that he was thrilled with his performance. Chris Wingert - 4.5 Wingert was getting beat against the Galaxy and one of those times led to a goal. Not his best game, but still very much an asset to the team. He also had an incredible quote at halftime. Aaron Maund - 4 This was the first time in a long while that Maund did not have a good showing....
