Player ratings: RSL 2-1 Houston Dynamo

The first half was not the prettiest, but most of the second half was a highlight reel. Nick Rimando - 8 Nick Rimando made what was one of the best saves of his career, and that's saying something. He got his paw on a ball that was destine for goal. After that save hit the post, he immediately made another big save, this time with his head. That play preserved a very important three points for RSL before their road stretch. Demar Phillips - 6.5 Phillips looks like he wants his starting job back. He looks like he is playing with more drive and focus. Aaron Maund - 6 Maund drew some smart...

Player Ratings: LA Galaxy 5-2 RSL

A slow start led to a horrible first half. Nick Rimando - 5.5 It's difficult to give a fair and accurate rating to a guy who saves a PK on Steven Gerrard but was also scored on five times. Rimando had a nice save or two, but I doubt even he would say that he was thrilled with his performance. Chris Wingert - 4.5 Wingert was getting beat against the Galaxy and one of those times led to a goal. Not his best game, but still very much an asset to the team. He also had an incredible quote at halftime. Aaron Maund - 4 This was the first time in a long while that Maund did not have a good showing....

Rimando came up with three or four tough saves and was probably the best player for RSL in the first half. Demar Phillips - 5.5 Phillips played well for not starting a few games in a row. He did, unfortunately, cough up the ball cheaply on a few occasions that really could have left RSL in a bad spot. Aaron Maund - 7.5 Maund didn't get nominated for MLS Save of the Week last week so he tried to get in on the action again against Vancouver. Outside of a timely save, he played...

Q&A with Aaron Maund

RSL Soapbox: Where did you grow up and how did you start playing soccer? Aaron Maund: I grew up in Boston, Massachusetts and I started playing soccer primarily because of my dad. He's Carribean, he's from Trinidad, so it's just what Trinidadians do, you know? They run track and they play soccer and apparently they play cricket. (laughs) RSL Soapbox: You had a breakout year last year. Was the difference just consistent minutes as a starter? AM: I think so. I think getting consisetint minutes you get into a rhythm and you can build off of performances. I think all of that helps a young guy...
