Soccer Insider: MLS suspends D.C. United’s Eddie Johnson for 2 matches

D.C. United forward Eddie Johnson will serve a two-game suspension for kicking the ball at a fallen opponent after the whistle Saturday. In a terse statement announced by the league Wednesday, the MLS disciplinary committee concluded Johnson had used “violent conduct” toward Real Salt Lake defender Carlos Salcedo in the 30th minute of United’s 3-0 loss in Sandy, Utah. Eddie Johnson supended for two games for kicking the ball at Carlos Salcedo

As well all expected, MLS has suspended Eddie Johnson for two matches. Ben Olsen expected, we expected it, and I assume that Eddie Johnson must have expected it too. However, MLS today officially announced that Eddie Johnson has been suspended for two league games for kicking the ball at Carlos Salcedo, who was on the ground at the time (Violent conduct now carries an automatic two game suspension).
