DeMerit's Legacy

Jay DeMerit announced his retirement from professional football earlier this week and the Whitecaps now look ahead towards a new stage in their MLS history without their first signing, captain and face of the franchise. DeMerit Retires

Whitecaps FC captain Jay DeMerit announces his immediate retirement from professional soccer VANCOUVER, BC - When Jay DeMerit injured his ankle during a match between the Vancouver Whitecaps and the Philadelphia Union at the beginning of June most fans knew it didn't look good, but they still expected Jay to make a quick recovery.
