Columbus Crew SC Leave Toronto With 0-0 Draw

The Black & Gold contain Toronto, but can't find enough offense of their own in a 0-0 draw. On the back of trading away a 22 goal scorer, Columbus Crew SC are still searching for answers offensively. A 1-1 draw with Colorado thanks to a first half goal from Cedrick Mabwati was the first result after the Kei Kamara deal followed up by a 0-0 draw with Toronto FC on Saturday evening. The lack of goals wasn't equivalent to chances created. The Black & Gold finished the match with 15 shots, five on goal, while Toronto had eight efforts to score. For TFC, the chances came through 2015 Major...

Anatomy of A Blockbuster: How The Revs Were Able to Trade For Kei Kamara

The New England Revolution shelled out a lot of stuff for Kei Kamara, but where did it all come from? Before we take a bit of a trip down memory lane, let me start with this. For all the flak the New England Revolution front office gets for their (perceived) lack of spending, the fans should give them far more credit for what they do better than anyone else in MLS. And that is use trades, draft picks, waiver wires, blind draws, anything and everything at their disposal within MLS to acquire players that doesn't involve signing someone from the international market. Look up and down the Revs...

Winger impressed after extended training stint. Columbus Crew SC added an offensive piece of the puzzle, and no, it was not a forward to replace Kei Kamara. The team added Panamanian winger Cristian Martinez on a season long loan from Chorrillo FC. Terms were not disclosed and it's unknown if Columbus added an option to buy. Martinez has been training with the team since April as he tried to impress the coaching staff and his deal was worked out. During this time he played 45 minutes in a friendly against Veracruz. Martinez, 19, has already appeared with the senior Panamanian national team,...

Soccer | Revolution gives Kamara a warm welcome

adcelannotate = {"mobilepaywallcategory" : "MOBILE_PREM-SPORTS","nativepaywallcategory" : "NATIVE_PREM-SPORTS"};When striker Kei Kamara left Crew SC last week, not many teammates had much to say about what led to him being traded away one season after he tied for the most goals in Major League Soccer. But that wasn’t the case with Kamara’s new team, the New England Revolution.

MLS Post-Mortem: Clash of the Titans and Kamara's new colors

A big game took place in Montreal, while Kei Kamara debuted in New England. We're through 11 weeks of Major League Soccer. No team has emerged as the clear favorite at this juncture, but maybe one will emerge soon. We'll see. Clash of the Titans Two of the best teams in MLS went head to head on Saturday, and the result was back-and-forth, end-to-end action that culminated in a 1-1 draw between the Montreal Impact and the Philadelphia Union. The Eastern Conference is weak and mediocre this season, despite the fact that three of the league's best teams play on, or close to, the Atlantic...

6-Thought Box: New-ish Crew turns out to be OK against Colorado

Columbus put the Kei Kamara trade behind it and played some soccer on Saturday. What do we take away from the performance against a strong Colorado Rapids side? They did it. Kei Kamara was traded and Columbus Crew SC didn't implode. After a week in which everyone was very distracted from the reason the club exists — to play soccer games — the Black & Gold got back on the field and settled for a 1-1 draw at home against the league-leading Colorado Rapids. All things considered, it wasn't a terrible performance and provided an opportunity to see the team make some changes on the...

adcelannotate = {"mobilepaywallcategory" : "MOBILE_PREM-SPORTS","nativepaywallcategory" : "NATIVE_PREM-SPORTS"};There will be at least three chapters to the 2016 Crew SC season. The first chapter included Kei Kamara, the big finisher, who tied for the league lead with 22 goals last season. Eight days ago, Kamara got into an on-field spat with teammate Federico Higuain about a penalty kick. Subsequently, Kamara spoke the truth to the media, and to fans, and was run out of town like Leon Trotsky.

A tie without Kei: Crew SC 1, Colorado Rapids 1

Columbus.- The first night without Kei Kamara was just like Ohio weather: Awkward and cold. After all the drama with the trade of the Sierra Leone striker to New England, CrewSC faced a very organized (and tall) Colorado Rapids defense. Cedric Mabwatti was electric, Ola Kamara ran for his life but didn’t create enough chances [...] The post A tie without Kei: Crew SC 1, Colorado Rapids 1 appeared first on Prost Amerika.
