Panamanian reports link Crew SC with striker Ricardo Clarke

Columbus is on the search for more attacking talent, but a reported deal hit a snag. Kei Kamara is back at training and Conor Casey is signed to provide depth, but it appears that Columbus weren't done trying to augment the forward line. According to reports from Panama, Crew SC had submitted a bid for Panamanian striker Ricardo Clarke, currently of Zamora FC in Venezuela. Clarke, 23, began his career in Panama with Sporting San Miguelito in 2011. He spent a brief period on loan in New Zealand with the Wellington Phoenix before going on loan to Zamora. The Venezuelan club made the loan...

Kei Kamara Arrived to Preseason Camp but is Everything Good with the Forward and Columbus Crew SC?

Conor Casey Fits What Columbus Crew SC Need in a Backup Forward

There's no reason to believe the new Black & Gold signing can't provide a capable backup to Kei Kamara. New Columbus Crew SC signing Conor Casey is not Radamel Falcao, as rumors suggested might be the case earlier this offseason, but he's the type of player the Black & Gold were looking for as the primary backup to forward Kei Kamara. "My priority really is getting myself fit, getting myself integrated into the team, and getting myself in a position where I can be able to help the team when needed," Casey said on a conference call on Tuesday. The key portion of that statement is, "I can be...

Report: Kei Kamara is holding out from preseason for improved contract

Kamara was third highest earner on Crew SC roster in 2015. And then there were (temporarily) none. Columbus Crew SC had two forwards depart in the offseason, but they could depend on the MVP finalist Kei Kamara to lead the line. That plan took a serious hit on Monday when the Washington Post’s Steve Goff reported that the team’s leading scorer last year is holding out for a renegotiated contract. Kamara was absent on Friday as the rest of the team assembled for physicals and prepared to head to Florida for the beginning of preseason. Gregg Berhalter had said he was working on...

Columbus Crew SC Can Still Succeed Without Potent Forward Depth

Do the Black & Gold really need to have a talented backup forward to Kei Kamara? History shows they do not. There's a growing concern among Columbus Crew SC fans. The team reports on Friday for the start of preseason camp and the regular season begins in a little over a month, yet the Black & Gold have one forward on the roster that has ever played an MLS game. Kei Kamara had an incredible year as the primary striker for Columbus in 2015. The towering front man led Crew SC's line with 22 goals - tied for the most in Major League Soccer - and eight assists in 32 games, 21 starts. The problem...
