Andrew Farrell plays "karate soccer" according to Kei Kamara

...And he might be right. When you watch a New England Revolution game, it’s hard to ignore the athleticism of Andrew Farrell. The Louisville product is willing to do anything to clear the ball, including bold slide tackles and overhead kicks. It’s a risky style but one that has proven to be effective. Columbus Crew SC’s Kei Kamara, who finished 2015 with 22 regular-season goals, has taken note of Farrell’s play and is willing to name him as one of the league’s most athletic players. "Andrew Farrell, I don’t know what kind of athleticism he does have," Kamara said during an...

Kei Kamara appears to be Mohammed Saied's favorite target on and off the field

Crew SC's leading scorer took punishment in practice and on twitter. Kei Kamara is integral to Crew SC's MLS Cup hopes, but it appeared he got dinged up this week. He isn't listed on the injury report and appears to be a full go, but judging from his twitter feed though he picked up a knock, big enough to have to go get it checked out at the hospital, before returning home. Bob Marley said, "your best friend is your worst enemy." Now I get it. MLS is Coming to Africa

Hey, Sub-Saharan Africa! MLS is coming to a station near you! In perusing the MLS website, I came across the rather prominent article about MLS now being shown in the Sub-Saharan area through Fox Sports Africa.  Given the amount of African players we have in MLS, this move makes sense. Gary Stevenson, President and Managing Director, MLS Business Ventures, said in a statement MLS is proud to be the home of top international stars, including many from Africa, such as Ivory Coast's Didier Drogba, Sierra Leone’s Kei Kamara and Nigeria’s Obafemi Martins. This partnership will allow...

Kei Kamara featured in ESPN Sports Science video

The amazing physical feats of Kei. Just how special of an athlete is Kei Kamara? ESPN Sports Science broke down Kamara's athletic prowess in getting to the ball and scoring today in a new video. Kamara can get to a spot with quickness that few defenders possess. Through ESPN's calculations, Kamara with his burst can cover 25 feet in a second and a half. That's the difference between a 50/50 challenge or an open chance. Many defenders in MLS would struggle to keep up. Kei gets to balls first. More impressively is his vertical leap. At 6' 3", Kamara is a big target, but he has a well honed...

Crew SC recognized in Goal.com end of season awards

Articles recognize that 2015 was a team effort. Goal.com announced their "Best XI" and Top 10 MLS players at each position this week and there is considerable respect and acknowledgement for the team's 2015 performances. Three Crew SC players make the Best XI, Waylon Francis, Ethan Finlay, and Kei Kamara. None of them have flown under the radar as all were (eventually) selected for the All-Star Game this past July. Francis made 28 starts and tallied seven assists, the most for left backs in the league. After a breakout 2014, Finlay improved with 12 goals and 13 assists, one of four players...

MLS Post-Mortem: Kamara's back, DPs struggle

MLS Post-Mortem looks back at the past week and analyzes the happenings. This week, we see Kei Kamara back in form, the Red Bulls defense survive and a new way to win in MLS. 1. Columbus Crew look great: Beating the Montreal Impact is not easy. Powered by their new coach, important tactical adjustments and, most of all, the presence of Didier Drogba, the Impact decimated MLS throughout September and October, months that coincided with the above changes. They have star power (Drogba), a dynamic playmaker (Ignacio Piatti), a defender that can run with anybody (Laurent Ciman) and a capable...
