Joe Roth apologizes for comments at Alliance meeting

Fans called for apology after Roth's flippant comments about Guatemala and Nicaragua Seattle Sounders FC released an apologetic statement on behalf of owner Joe Roth after his comments during last night's Alliance meeting describing Guatemala and Nicaragua as "cocaine distributors." Roth had mistakenly identified Marco Pappa as being from Nicaragua rather than Guatemala, and when corrected he noted offhand that both countries were cocaine distributors. After an outcry from fans, including an official statement from Emerald City Supporters Latino subgroup Barra Fuerza Verde, the Sounders...

Latino supporters' group disillusioned by Joe Roth's comments

On the night that Joe Roth effectively handed over his controlling interest of the Seattle Sounders to Adrian Hanauer, the Hollywood producer went out with quite a bang. In between defending Sigi Schmid's coaching performance and bemoaning the existence of the away-goals rule and ties, Roth also made a highly insensitive remark about how Guatemala and Nicaragua are both "cocaine distributors." Putting the comment in context didn't do him much favors either, as he was attempting to make a joke about why he misstated which country Marco Pappa played for. La Barra Fuerza Verde, the Latino...

Allow yourself to remember the moment when all was good in the world

The emotion lasted less than two minutes. But, man, those moments felt really good. The Seattle Sounders had scored in the 90th minute on a wonderful Marco Pappa corner kick and a pounding Chad Marshall header. The all-important road goal tied the score 1-1 and gave the Sounders a 3-2 lead on aggregate. All they had to do was hold on for about five more minutes. Marco Pappa went all-in on his Halloween costume

Let it be said that Marco Pappa appears to have been perfectly willing to get into the Halloween spirit. This clown costume has a little bit of everything: oversized shoes, rainbow socks, big tie ... and an impossibly cute kid as a sidekick. Happy Halloween ✌ ️ A photo posted by Marco Pappa (@marcopappa10) on Oct 31, 2015 at 1:59pm PDT

Questions remain about Sounders' starting XI for Sunday

Osvaldo Alonso, Marco Pappa, Brad Evans, and Leo Gonzalez are all question marks at this point. Seattle Sounders coach Sigi Schmid told reporters today that he couldn't give any real injury updates, but he did clarify that Osvaldo Alonso was battling with a groin injury that kept him out of the matchday squad against the LA Galaxy on Wednesday. He also said earlier this week that midfielder Marco Pappa should be ready for Sunday, but the player trained inside today and Schmid revealed nothing about the player's availability for the first leg against FC Dallas. The only other major worries...
