Perry Kitchen's attacking evolution continues after solid USMNT performance

After scoring twice against New York, Kitchen nearly opened his USA account against Mexico in Wednesday's friendly In the 80th minute of Wednesday's friendly between Mexico and the United States, an opportunity presented itself. Mix Diskerud received a pass on the side of the box, and immediately passed back to its sender. That first pass had originated from D.C. United's midfielder, Perry Kitchen. Just days removed from scoring twice against the New York Red Bulls, Kitchen didn't hesitate, striking the ball first time. Only this time, his shot was blocked, and the opportunity was gone. "I...

Soccer Insider: Perry Kitchen: D.C. United goal scorer and U.S. national team player

D.C. United’s Perry Kitchen is not a traditional goal scorer, by any means. It’s the nature of the position, defensive midfielder, the coal mining of soccer. D.C. United's Perry Kitchen gets 2nd USMNT cap in 2-0 win over Mexico

We're so excited about Kitchen's second cap that we tracked everything he did. D.C. United midfielder Perry Kitchen's evolution as a player continued last night in Texas, as he played the final 27 minutes of a 2-0 victory for the United States over archrival Mexico. Coming off of what was easily his best game in 2015 - one of the best games he's played as a professional - last weekend, Kitchen replaced Kyle Beckerman at the bottom of the USMNT's midfield diamond in the 63rd minute. His United teammate Bill Hamid was strangely not eligible for the match, as Jurgen Klinsmann opted to carry...

D.C. United's best performance ends in a draw after late New York Red Bulls sucker-punch

Perry Kitchen's brace and United's most complete performance of 2015 were wasted after Lloyd Sam's late game equalizer. 67 minutes gone on Saturday night, and proceedings looked just peachy for D.C. United. Responding well since being soundly defeated by the New York Red Bulls three weeks ago, Perry Kitchen had just struck from 20 yards out to put United up 2-0. Then Damien Perrinelle pulled one back for the Red Bulls a minute later. "The goal right after the goal, those are usually the ones that are devastating," United captain Bobby Boswell said after the game. "The momentum, you talk...

D.C. United concede late in 2-2 draw against New York Red Bulls

Perry Kitchen's brace was for naught as United give up 90th minute goal D.C. United looked to pick up their third win on the trot on Saturday night, as the game against the New York Red Bulls crept closer to second half stoppage time. But, up 2-1, United failed to properly deal with a Sacha Kljestan free kick allowing Lloyd Sam to prod home for a 2-2 draw. Perry Kitchen's brace had given United a two goal advantage with just 25 minutes left to play, but Damien Perrinelle headed home minutes later, setting the stage for Sam's late effort. In similar fashion to who the first game between the...
