New Orleans Pelicans center DeMarcus Cousins (right ankle sprain) is questionable to play against the Denver Nuggets on Sunday. What It Means: Cousins apparently tweaked his ankle on Friday, but he was able to finish the game and he played the entire fourth quarter. We should know more later in the afternoon, but if Cousins can't go, Dante Cunningham will likely get the start while Anthony Davis and Jrue Holiday will each get a big boost in DFS value on Sunday. If Cousins does play, our models project him for 25.9 points, 10.8 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.3 blocks...

New Orleans Pelicans forward Anthony Davis scored 33 points with 16 rebounds, one assist, two steals, and one block in Friday's 117-107 loss to the Houston Rockets. What It Means: Davis recorded his fourth consecutive double-double and 44th of the season as he scored 30 or more points for the 31st time this season. Even with DeMarcus Cousins playing the last three games, the Bow's production hasn't dropped off. He is averaging 26.7 points, 13.3 rebounds, and 1.0 steals in his last three games. Davis ended up with the best defensive rating on the Pels too, with a 14.9 mark. His...

Role Players Shine as Utah Jazz Hold Off Pelicans

Despite a big performance from the New Orleans Pelicans’ Anthony Davis, the Utah Jazz prevailed in Salt Lake City on Monday night by a score of 108-100. With Gordon Hayward missing Monday’s late-night game due to a quad injury, the Jazz looked to their role players to provide some much-needed relief. They found it though […] Role Players Shine as Utah Jazz Hold Off Pelicans - Purple and Blues - Purple and Blues - A Utah Jazz Fan Site - News, Blogs, Opinion and More

Anthony Davis explosive again but Jazz ride hot outside shooting to beat Pelicans, 108-100

Anthony Davis explosive again but Jazz ride hot outside shooting to beat Pelicans, 108-100

No Gordon Hayward, no Boogie Cousins and now New Orleans one step closer to no playoffs. New Orleans’ ancestral NBA team in Utah is pretty good, even without their best player in uniform. The Jazz beat the Pelicans 108-100 late Monday night, hitting 15-of-27 3-pointers and a bunch of contested shots in the final couple minutes to seal it, all without All-Star Gordon Hayward. The Pelicans are 6-3 in their last 9 but surely out of the playoff race with Denver and Portland currently tied for the 8th spot in the west and sitting 4.5 games ahead of New Orleans. AD vs. Gobert Anthony Davis...

Utah Jazz 108 - New Orleans Pelicans 100: Game Recap

Utah Jazz 108 - New Orleans Pelicans 100: Game Recap

Both teams missing stars, but all eyes were on Anthony Davis and Rudy Gobert. They combined for 56 points, 36 rebounds, 8 blocks in titanic battle. The Utah Jazz (45-29) defeated the New Orleans Pelicans (31-43) tonight on international TV (thanks TNT, but no thanks on the Player’s only gimmick) 108-100. This game shouldn’t have been this close but both teams were missing key players. All-Star bigman DeMarcus Cousins was out with injury, as were All-Star forward Gordon Hayward, and a third 2010 NBA Draft lotto pick Derrick Favors. Alec Burks was also out with a personal matter, the...

Utah Jazz Downbeat #2058 - Joe Ingles has his own signature Burrito.

You need to stop wasting time and click this already. It’s more than just burritos here in Utah Jazz land, they have the playoffs but there’s still the playoff push! Let’s get to it! The Utah Jazz are back in action tonight, hosting the New Orleans Pelicans. The Pelicans are playing great when DeMarcus Cousins is sitting. They took out the Denver Nuggets last night in Denver - and blew them out. Anthony Davis is great, but I wonder can he be great two nights in a row at this elevation? New Orleans is low. #NOPatUTA Having played #NOPatDEN last night we'll see if they...

NBA Preview: Pelicans look for improbable victory on second night of back-to-back in Utah

NBA Preview: Pelicans look for improbable victory on second night of back-to-back in Utah

Anthony Davis was amazing in Denver. Can he maintain the stellar play with or without DeMarcus Cousins in another must win game? ‘Win or go home’ is an expression normally reserved for climatic Game 7s yet one can’t help but think it most appropriately describes the Pelicans current rocky situation. New Orleans has nine games left to play on the 2016-17 schedule. They trail both Portland and Denver by an uncomfortable margin of four games. A postseason berth has hovered far off on the horizon for practically the entire season, but it has never looked any further away than it does at...
