Lakers LinkedIn: Should the Lakers pursue Bismack Biyombo?

Los Angeles should go all-in on the youth movement and fill their hole in the middle with this former lottery pick. Welcome to Lakers LinkedIn, our new free agency preview series (inspired by our friends over at Liberty Ballers' own "Sixers Tinder") where we look at the "resumes" of various free agents, and determine whether or not we think the Lakers' should hire them. The Lakers desperately need a center, so today we're looking at one of the op names on the market, Bismack Biyombo. Raptors Player Review: The Breakout of Bismack Biyombo

After a low key and lacklustre start to his career in Charlotte, Biyombo's season in Toronto has vaulted him into a star of NBA Twitter and one of the best defensive big men in the league. Bismack Biyombo became a Raptor on July 4th of 2015, when Masai Ujiri inked the Congolese centre to a two-year, $6 million deal using the mini mid-level exception. Ten months later, Biyombo's contributions to the 2015-16 Raptors were far from mini, as he was taking over the Playoffs amidst the run to the Eastern Conference Finals. In the first round there was the dunk in Game 5 against the Pacers that...

NBA Draft 2016 Poll: What do you think about the Pascal Siakam pick?

This one is a bit of a head-scratcher. Some high-level prospects were dropping and it seemed like the Raptors would have their choice of quality players at the 27th pick. Instead, as he's done now multiple years in a row, GM Masai Ujiri drafted way outside the box. This time it was the selection of forward Pascal Siakam from New Mexico State. Draft Express had him going 43rd in their mock draft. What this means for the Raptors remains a question mark. Theoretically Siakam could come in and find minutes as the new Bismack Biyombo off the bench for Toronto. Or he could go straight down to...

NBA Draft 2016: Raptors play it safe, draft Utah's Jakob Poeltl 9th overall

Delon Wright is reunited with his college buddy! With the ninth-overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft, better known as the "Andrea Bargnani Pick," the Raptors have selected Utah centre Jakob Poeltl. Poeltl was the PAC-12 Player of the Year as a sophomore with the Utes this season, averaging 17.2 points, 9.1 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.6 blocks on 64.6 percent shooting over the course of 36 games. With Bismack Biyombo about to earn a swimming pool's worth of money, most likely from another team, Poeltl isn't a difficult sell as a big man who can potentially soak up some of the backup minutes...

Bismack Biyombo and the Portland Trail Blazers

Biyombo showed up big in the playoffs for the Toronto Raptors. Should the Blazers be interested in him? Today's Mailbag covers a suddenly-hot prospect for the 2016 free agent market. Could the Blazers be interested? Dave, You've gone through all this time and a huge amount of names, but you've never talked about the one guy I want bad, Bismak Biyombo. My question is can the Blazers get him and do you think he would help? Dale Aside from a couple names (hello Al Horford and Larry Sanders) I haven't talked about individual free agents too much yet. We're going to transition into those...

Daryl Morey talks Dwight Howard's future with the Rockets

Morey didn't bring up data. Just kidding, he totally did. Rockets GM Daryl Morey joined Yahoo! great Adrian Wojnarowski on The Vertical Podcast with Woj Thursday.  Woj brought up Dwight Howard and his possible impending free agency. Dwight has the option to opt out this summer. Woj asked Morey if he has a sense of the big man's mindset. He also brought up that the Mike D’Antoni/Howard combo has failed in other cities. Typically, a GM would be wary for an Act Two. But, data says everything will be OK. Morey says that he has no idea if Dwight will continue on with the Rockets. Morey...

The Bismack Biyombo "decision" isn't a difficult one for the Raptors

Bismack Biyombo will always be a beloved member of this year's Raptors, but it doesn't seem realistic for him to return next year. Breaking off a great relationship for logistical reasons is an unpleasant punch to the gut. Sometimes you can do everything right and have a wonderful connection, but if you and your significant other's personal timelines aren't congruent, eventually you're probably going to have to move on. That's the reality facing the Toronto Raptors when it comes to their flexing, finger-wagging, charismatic backup centre, Bismack Biyombo. What a fun player Biyombo was to...
