As Brendan Haywood and Chris Kaman took turns as high-priced, one-year tryouts, Chandler's absence continues to be felt in the locker room and on the court. Mavs Moneyball readers have heard plenty about this guy. Also this guy. And even this guy, too. Well, here's another name to throw into the pile. Like Howard, he's a former #1 pick. Like Bynum, he's injury prone. And like Cousins, but unlike the other two, he's young, talented and won't cost a max contract. Now, I don't ex...

Rufus on Fire Brendan Haywood's best years are behind him. He knows this, we know this and the Bobcats know this. Haywood was not brought into Charlotte to help a team win. Haywood was brought in to be a veteran presence in the locker room for the young players. Season Analysis Haywood's relationship with the Bobcats started off strangely. In the month of November, Haywood averaged 28 minutes per game and played solidly on the offensive end. Brendan Haywood isn't a fantastic player, but he was averaging 19 minutes per game this season. My guess is that Tyrus Thomas (allegedly banished to Mordor) or DeSagana Diop (banished to the bench) will receive playing time now that Haywood is out. I'd prefer the team going to ...

Rufus on Fire Brendan Haywood may not be winning much on the court, but he is sure as hell winning off it. The Bobcats center surprised 15 women living at Charlotte's Salvation Army Center of Hope shelter Sunday, announcing he will pay each of their energy bills for a year. The women are a part of the shelter's "Rapid Rehousing Program," which helps transition homeless women and their families to their own housing by providing short term subsidies as the women return to employment or stabilize their situation. This isn't the first time Haywood has contributed to helping single parent families. In 20...
