36 reasons why I’m excited about this Celtics season

36 reasons why I’m excited about this Celtics season

Greg M. Cooper-USA TODAY Sports In honor of Marcus Smart, 36 reasons this season is going to be fun. Chances are, if you are reading this blog, you are already excited about this upcoming Boston Celtics season. Still, for fun I thought I’d catalog some reasons why I’m excited. Yes, this is a gimmick and I’m cool with that. Marcus Smart is the longest tenured Celtic and is now the adult in the room. Maybe that’s why he’s wearing a robe. Jaylen Brown got paid. He doesn’t strike me as the kind of guy that lets up. If anything it might motivate him more. Carsen Edwards is a...

Which Celtics rookie will have the best year?

Which Celtics rookie will have the best year?

Photo by Brian Babineau/NBAE via Romeo Langford, Grant Williams, Carsen Edwards, or (ahem) Tacko Fall? The Celtics draft class is getting rave reviews from those around the team and it is easy to see why. So who do we think is going to be the best of the bunch this season? Romeo Langford was the top pick (in the lottery at that) and was a really highly rated recruit coming out of high school. However, he has struggled with injuries both in college and during Summer League and preseason. He also seems to be in the process of re-tooling his jump shot. He could end up being the best of the...

Javonte Green likely won final Boston Celtics roster spot

Photo by Brian Babineau/NBAE via Green ranked fourth on the Celtics in points, slamming every dunk available and shooting 80% on 20 shots. The Celtics boasted a brutally efficient preseason. Carsen Edwards finished among the best true shooters in the league. Boston won every game, and they can thank the bottom of the roster for sealing games through one of the most intense final roster battles we’ve seen. Javonte Green reportedly emerged from that battle victorious. Despite the Celtics converting Max Strus to a NBA deal in a roster shuffle to retain Tacko Fall, Green will likely...

Carsen Edwards should get rotation minutes with Celtics after bonkers 3-point barrage

Carsen Edwards has just begun to pour salt on his flamethrower performance on Tuesday night against the Cleveland Cavaliers, pacing the Boston Celtics with 30 points in an incandescent shooting display at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse. The 6-foot rookie canned 8-of-11 from deep in a span of six minutes of the third quarter, shocking teammates and […] The post Carsen Edwards should get rotation minutes with Celtics after bonkers 3-point barrage appeared first on ClutchPoints.

Brad Stevens on Carsen Edwards’ shooting performance: ‘I’ve never seen anything like that’

David Richard-USA TODAY Sports Carsen Edwards put together a memorable showing in the C’s preseason finale with his third-quarter, 3-point shooting barrage. It wasn’t supposed to as thrilling or entertaining of a game with many of the Celtics regulars not even making the trip to Cleveland for Boston’s preseason finale against the Cavaliers. Guess nobody told that to Carsen Edwards, who stole the spotlight with an insane third-quarter, 3-point shooting spree that even left coach Brad Stevens in disbelief. Edwards canned the first six 3-pointers he launched in the stanza and...

Summer Celtics catch fire against Cavaliers 118-95

Photo by David Liam Kyle/NBAE via Carsen Edwards put on a show at The Q. Back in July, Boston’s rookie class captured the imagination of fans in Las Vegas. The Summer Celtics played with smarts, joy, and unity in Summer League. It was a good first step to build chemistry for a team that suffered in that area the year before. With the Celtics’ starters staying back in Boston for rest, Boston brought their twentysomething squad into Cleveland for their final preseason game. As a team, they may not have been as suffocating as their more experienced teammates on defense, but they put...

Photo by Brian Babineau/NBAE via The Celtics’ lottery pick will make his debut in green today in Orlando. It could be anything. Shake the box and you might get a hint. Tear a bit of the gift wrap off and you’ll get an even better peek. That’s Romeo Langford. The Celtics’ 2019 rookie class has generated plenty of buzz. Grant Williams could challenge Marcus Smart this season in winning plays and Tommy points. Carsen Edwards looks more like a Sixth Man of the Year candidate than rookie. Tacko Fall and Javonte Green have captured the imagination and early year enthusiasm of a...

Romeo Langford feeling ‘100 percent’ and featuring ‘improved’ jump shot

Photo by Elsa/ After having thumb surgery, Romeo Langford said Monday that he is 100 percent. Much of the attention on the Boston Celtics’ rookie class has been paid to the likes of Grant Williams, Carsen Edwards, and of course, Tacko Fall. But none of them were the C’s top draft pick this past season (Fall wasn’t even drafted). That distinction belongs to University of Indiana product Romeo Langford, who the Celtics drafted at No. 14 overall, eight spots ahead of Williams. For most of the offseason, Langford went seemingly unnoticed as he recovered from surgery to repair torn...
