Miami has sustained another setback as it tries to wrangle the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference. Already missing Dwyane Wade and Greg Oden, the Heat will go without key reserve Chris Andersen this afternoon against the Knicks (1 p.m., ABC). Andersen banged one of his knees into a Minnesota player in Friday’s game and has a sore back. Andersen is averaging 6.8 points and 5.3 rebounds (tied for seventh among NBA subs) in 19.6 minutes per game. At 35, he has been one of the Heat’s most durable players this season. Andersen, at the ripe old age of 35 has never looked better in his NBA career. What he offers Miami night in and night out. On January 20th, 2013 the Miami Heat were sitting idle at a 26-12 record, having a rare 5 day gap in between games. Miami began it's title defense nearly 3 months prior, and were playing solid, if sometimes unspectacular basketball, not unlike what Miami is currently going through.
